dx3c

i just received my new dx3c radio, which comes with a sr300 rx. antenna is 3" long!!! after you route it through the radio box and out the antenna tube hole, about 3/4" is protruding. contrary to what the instructions say, which is, the antenna needs to be higher than the motor and any other metal object on the car. therefore, on that basis i needy another 6". i sent a message to horizon about this and did not get an answer yet. anyway, we all know their antennas are short so might as well be prepared to put the fix on it ourselves. i have had other stuff come up and corresponded with these guys. they are not very open to wanting to help you out. just buy our product and leave us alone. no more spectrum for me. i'll go back to futaba.

I’m really surprised to see so many people buy things without doing any research on the product before making the final purchase.Google is your friend.

well after some hassle with horizon and the shop where i bought my dx3-s we all came to an agreement for the radio to be sent back to horizon,so they got it and found no range issues with it  typical....
anyway they returned the radio from uk to my local model shop where i bought it and to be honest i had a little outburst with the shop owner,i got a little angry and asked him if the radio even left for horizon to begin with,i am from cornwall but am in dublin at the moment due to work so we have moved locations, anyway, the shop guy said if i could phone horizon hobbies and speak to a guy called glenn in repairs he could assist me and i could explain that i didn't trust it and try to get a refund,if they agreed to the refund then the shop would refund me as the shop had to get it from horizon first.

so,i phoned him and we got rid of another problem i didn't mention here steering slow moving to left like in slow motion so we moved frame rate from 11.5 to 16, that worked, because in my leopard i am using analog servos the rate needed to be changed, for the range issue he told me to salder on a longer antenna so the model shop done this now it's going up over the car and it is much improved,i havn't got time to try it in football field yet but will and am positive about it.

as i mentioned from the start the radio is fantastic to hanlde and work with, you can set up the car in minutes epa and travel etc all in seconds,it's great and there are some pretty cool features.

BUT,if i ever start racing i doubt i would ever trust it to be honest and it already has been a lot of hassle

Most don't have issues racing as range is only a small distance, plus you race in a enclosed area and fail safe would kick in.

mmm can't say i agree with that, last thing you want kicking in after 20minutes of a 30minute final is a failsafe :o
i just doubt it would even suffice for a proper 5th track, they are big enough some tracks,i would need to test it now to see

signal strength

i never got a response from horizon, so i called on 11-28. i explained to the gentleman that there is a problem with a 3 inch antenna lead on any receiver. he agreed. had no explanation as to why this one receiver(sr300) was the only one in the spectrum line with a lead of less than 6 inches. i asked if they were going to do anything about it. he didn't know. so i asked the ultimate question. what can i do about it. he had the balls to tell me to buy a sr 3100 or mr 3xxx marine rx which have longer antennas. i told him i was not about to buy a 100 dollar rx after buying a new complete setup which is not usable. then he said i could buy a kit which has a case and antenna for a sr3100,for 7 dollars at a local hobby shop. at that point i politely let him know what i thought of his company and their products. wtf?

That story just reeks of BS to me.Obviously you have no receipt to prove the purchase, something’s not right here for the conversation to end with those results.

spektrum

slipstream, what kind of bs are you spewing forth? what is with the receipt deal. of course i have a receipt for it. just purchased it from an online hobby dealer. anyway, i ordered the 9005 parts today to fix the problem.

If it doesn't make sense then it's probably not true.

The reason is that horizon don't treat anyone that way for warranty as you have described it,they dropped you for warranty for a reason.

If you had a problem then why didn't you send it back to the online store where you purchased it from ? instead of making horizon hobby look bad.
I'd say they told you to send it into place of purchase and you didn't like hearing that..correct.

hotrod

i agree with you,i was told the same thing to send it direct to horizon as the model shop only buys it from them
