Anyone have any experience with either the Spektrum DX3R Pro or the new DX4S? I was wondering if the resolution of the DX4S matched the DX3R Pro.

I'm looking at Spektrum as I'm planning on purchasing the Losi 5ive-T and it already comes with a Spektrum receiver along with telemetry.

Do your research first. Every thing I read is go Futaba.

The 4PL is a nicely priced top notch radio. I went with the 4PKS a little spendy, but damn its cool.

I've done quite a bit of reading on the Spektrum's and while I've always felt Futaba's were the gold standard, I couldn't find too much in terms of negatives on the Spektrum either. Most personal user opinions on the Spek were split quite evenly; some hated it and others loved it. Those who loved it could find no fault. The same could be said for the other manufacturers though so its difficult determining what's accurate unless you yourself had first hand experience with the radio.

Does the 4PL or 4PKS offer telemetry similar to the Spektrum? If so, can the same telemetry modules installed on the 5ive-T be used with the Futaba receiver? I'm assuming no. Grateful for the clarification though...

Even though I own Futaba now I have had many Spektrums....never had a issue with any of them.

Go DX3R PRO as its a better radio.I had one and it is very nice.

The Pro certainly looks like a great radio. I do want a 4ch though. Perhaps a DX4R pro is in the works?

Did you have any range or glitch issues with DSM?

My friends have spektrum radios (one has the DX4S)! I personally only have the Fly Sky GT3B. Every time i run with them i have to borrow and switch to a spektrum because they glitch with my GT3B. I guess its odd man out, but as far as range from what ive experienced is the spektrum radios have pretty good range.....but my GT3B's range is about 50 feet more than the spektrum stuff. just my experience and two cents

i have run the speky in boats, there was a small issue with range , but it was determined later that is was more of an issue with the monster rooster tail of water that was causing the problem.

the fix was pretty simple by adding an extension to get the antenna high enough on the boats . spektrum has since made changes to the receiver, so i'm told...

in full disclosure i did switch back to the Futaba in the end, i run the 4pk, the 4pl was not available at the time..

i use the 4pk for every RC i own now, lots of boats and cars..i just don't want to ever worry about radio problems and i have never once had an issue with the futaba gear.

I wouldn't mind going another TX/RX combo in the 5ive-T but would like to retain use of the stock telemetry sensors. Does anyone know if there's anything out there that would be compatible?

I decided to get a DX3S instead. They're on sale now and come with 2 receivers; 3300T and a 300 for under $160. I don't race and didn't see the need for extremely high frame rates since most of my digital servos aren't capable of it anyway. Either way, the DX3S will be a huge upgrade over the stock Redcat TX and RX. Now all I have to do is order the 5ive-T when my wife isn't watching...
