thanks troy but I still want to learn for next time, so far I know now to do several more coats and your telling me don't make the coats thick?

Yes m8 do several light coats using a hairdryer in between coats until its non transparent this allows it to be more flexible..... the least amount of lexan paint the better, to heavy/thick the paint will only crack or flake

thanks fellas, i went real thick on the coats and only did two, did warm the paint a fair bit before using as well, did it inside the house with the ducted heating on so about 23 degrees c.

gave the platinum a good clean last night, came up mint :D

had a close look under the centre drive shaft cover, happy to see nothing got in there besides a bit of moisture, decided to try and remove it to blow out the moisture but something on the rear end was keeping the cover in place. I removed the front screw and the centre screw, does anyone know what else holds the cover in place?

LOL im a slack arse arnt I, had a look at the manual and says to just remove the top two bolts which I did but the cover still didnt want to budge, might have to use a bit more persuasion next time!

this ones for you shane

don't know why the vid is a bit glitchy. running the stock bfg's and 2s lipo.

thanks shane, yep out of the box very happy with the handling, ill be getting stiffer springs and thicker shock oil as it hits the chassis too easy when jumping but thats an easy fix.

yeah allot of people don't mind it hitting the chassis but i don't like the sound of it LOL, plus I like playing around with the suspension to see the affect it has on handling etc.

well after yesterdays wet run at f/gully rd track looks like im going to learn about slipper clutches and how the pinion/spur is set up on the platinum as something has locked up the drivetrain and prior to that it was slipping heaps like someone had backed the slipper clutch heaps but hasnt been touched.

decided to have a look at the platinum tonight to see what has locked up the drive train.

discovered that the rear bearing, at the end of the tailshaft was completley destroyed, inner and outer rings were loose and flopping around.

so took the back end off and found that a few of the balls from the bearing had wedged themself real deep into the spur, managed to get them out, just need a new bearing to get it running again.

couldnt believe how easy it was too get the back end off, two bolts and a grub screw and it was in two bits! Love it!

according to a mate with a platinum its quite a common problem, aparently there's a traxxas upgrade that runs a bigger bearing (same as the MERV) as the smaller bearing generates too much heat.

pretty dissapointing considering this is ment to be the best slash you can buy out of the box!

ill get the upgrade next time this happens and from what ive been told there will be a next time.
