well chucked the baja in the boot this morining before work. going to try and take it for a squirt on my lunch break :D and make sure all is well before the weekend, see how this new RS flywheel holds up.

well my lunchtime run lasted about 10 seconds! someone managed to fry my HS645MG! working fine on the bench last night! thats 2 hitecs ive fried yet ive never killed a towerpro!

im now running my dx3s with the baja, couldnt get the standard one to rebind for some reason, ill keep it as a spare or sell it with the beetle.

voltwatch?

Yep, that could be a good idea if you are frying servos regurlary. Some servos are very sensitive to voltages over 6V and a 6V battery can acutally put out as much as 7,4 fully charged. A voltwatch sees to that there is always 6V coming to the servos.

If this is not the issue maybe you will have to check your EPA:s. If this is set wrongly you can fry a servo in a matter of minutes.

ok thanks, my DX3S gives me a readout of the receiver voltage anyway so don't think I need this. its just weird that the two servo's that died were both hitec 645's and the cheapo ones seem to last forever.

i eneded up putting in the blubird servo and ran 2 tanks over the weekend in my new bash spot at show grounds which im in love with at the moment. No issues at all but still cant get it to break very well even though the servo is rated to 14.2 kilo (i think its way over rated.)

ill have to get a top of the line throttle servo soon anyway as ill be making the change to front disc brakes and will need something strong and reliable to operate them.

going to put the enigne back in the baja tonight or tommorow, layshaft gear is covered by a plastic 'cowl' so to speak, do you think it would be a good idea if I ran some grease on this gear?

hrmm, didnt think much if anything would get in there as its covered unlike the 2WD models, maybe really find dust thats about it.

anyone got a FG 4WD?

u might be right though, its already got some kind of substance near there, looks like its been spared around the casing though and not much if anything left on the gears which will happen when it spins so prolly not much point anyway.

has anyone tried to put a G270 in a FG Baja 4WD before? I tried last night but nothing ligns up, almost like crankcase is hitting on something, when I put the locating screw through diff housing and into layshaft gear cover the engine sits a good 1 inch above the chassis!

well I gave up last night, couldnt work it out so now the G26 is going back into the baja. still don't know what the problem is but I want it running for the weekend.

if anyone has ever tried this please let me know as I want the G27 in there eventually.

finished putting the stock engine mounts back on the G26 last night and sat it in the baja, everything ligned up perfectly. there has to be something different from the G27 to G26, don't know yet but im going to find out!

In order to fit the G270 into 4wd FG, you need to modify the crankcase by grinding out the extra mount that comes with G270 crankcase. Check the attached photos and you will understand. :)

nope not a big deal just make sure you do it slowly and don't go thru the crank but remember if its a new clutch casing you need to dremel a portion away too

thanks everyone. x2crt do you mind if I post those pics up on OSLF and AUSRC? I think it will help a few people out as it did myself.

i put the G26 back in the baja but at least I know what to do now. Ive also softened the suspension heaps by using hydraluc oil on shockers and adjusted the linkages up a fair bit to get more steering out of it (thanks rossco). cant wait to try it out at the show grounds.

You are welcome. Please feel free to do so and share with others. :)

I was running the G27 on my FG 4x4 truck for a few tanks but did not notice any power difference compare to G26 yet. After I rebuilt the G26 with 36mm bore kit, I swapped it back and the torque increase is noticeable.
