Don't worry if you don't have a standalone GPS, I doubt a phone would stand up to the vibration!

When I logged mine, I did about 10 stright line runs over about 80m. Then I compared the acceleration profiles of the two pipes using the GPS trace. In short, the tuned pipe gave twice the mid range acceleration as the stock can!

sorry for the jargon, I do a lot of this type of thing at work so I forget that the rest of the world never delve into it.

gps trace = a GPS tracklog or recorded route data from a GPS unit

most handheld GPS units can log your position every second, so it's possible to number crunch and get speed, acceleration etc from it. A bit like logging telemetry on race cars, but cheaper.

well first of the upgrades have come in today. jetpro pipe from the states came in, not bad considering I only ordered it last week!

the other parts are to help me get the MT back on the road.

had no idea the pipe was silenced, which is a plus for me coz I don't like em too loud (don't use the dom anymore for this reason).

:celebrate::D:celebrate:

put the pipe on last night, man what a prick of a thing to install. RHS bolt is so difficult to get to, luckily i purcahsed on weekend the long allen keys which helped allot!

overall pipe looks awesome, excellent finish and very sturdy. cant wati to try it out. generally i just richen top end a tad, should that be right with this one? still on stock settings or close enough to them.

also all the bolt holes ligned up perfectly and didnt need to do any mods (unlike the dom) and it doesn't get close to anything plastic so no melted parts (unlike the dom). :)

I think you'll like the sound of that pipe. I run silencers on both my pipes and it still has some growl. They are made well too, take a beating... have you done the wiring of the header bolts yet? drill a small hole through the head of each bolt to wrap wire across both? keeps them from totally unscrewing if they come loose. I am mentioning because I have to do that tonight ;)

hey pipe, i run a silenced jetpro on my MT and love it, the dom almost makes my ears bleed and our tracks are usually next to houses so the silenced option makes sense.

good idea with the hole and wire, had allot of trouble with the dom rattling loose but that cos I mis-threaded a bolt, ill see how this one goes. im going to run it without the body for a tank to do some tuning anyway and will keep and eye on the bolts.

I use a little dab of automotive exhaust gasket goo on the threads to stop them coming loose, works well but it's a sod to clean out of the threads, I have to chase the threads every now and again with a tap.

Loctite won't work on thease bolts as the engine gets too hot.

well started the baja for the first time last night, idle perfect straight off the bad, nice and low how I like it.

also finsihed modding the body so it doesn't rub on the pipe.

going to try and tune the top end before the weekend, can someone tell me what it sounds like when the HS needle is too lean?

its tucked in pretty nicly sits very close to rear cage/air filter so landing back first on jumps wont be a problem. i cant see cartwheels being a problem either as its tucked under the wing which is whats going to cop it.

took it out for its first squirt today at lunch time (on my lunch break so didnt have much time to play). gave the low end a quick tune. I thnk its right now but it still seems a little bogy off standing starts. Mid to top however is absolutley nuts! I cant believe once its going how quickly it picks up the revs and speed. spins all 4 wheel viscously and it hard to even keep it in a straight line! I LOVE IT!

Just got to see what I can do now to get it off the line better. I don't think I can go much better on tune, and its already got a 7k clutch spring (FG Blue), maybe I should try and 8?

I have found with mine that fuel tends to collect in either the pipe or the crank case if I idle for more than about 30s, which makes it bog off the line. so I just hold it at a fast idle for a moment before hitting the gas, and then it doesn't bog as much.

I think you have just done a great marketing job for Jetpro... I Really want one now!

Just turn your idle up a tad then it will fast idle on its own and wont bog at all:cool2:

idle isnt that low, maybe im expecting more out of it, maybe im trying to compare it to the MT which is RWD which is instant revs coz it just breaks traction all the time where as the baga gets traction.

i was trying it on grassy oval so it had plenty of grip.

ive decided to try one of those pump carbies, I think its a 813, ill check with CFR later today.

well did another 4 tanks over the weekend with the baja, didnt miss a beat (besides the exhaust bolts coming loose.

no pics though but do have some from a couple of weekends ago trying to get them off a mate.

gotta be honest I would have thought the tyres would have broken or worn by now but the look almost new!

the top end on this new pipe is fkn nuts, did some flat running yeasterday and its awesome, absoltuley spanked my mates king kong and another guys shenqi baja.

spent the weekend bashing with Rossco's on his prop over the weekend, muddy fun!

i need to do something about the bottom end (off the line acceleration) of my baja.

Im thinking of getting one of those pumper carbs soon but I also think the gearing is a must to change. its way too tall for all the tracks I run on.

what gearing combinations can I go? I would like to get away with changing just the clutch bell and spur gears. I know the stock spur is 48t, not sure about the clutch bell gear, think it maybe 16, should have checked last night.

Any idea's what I can go to drop the gearing?

Its got the FG Blue clutch spring which I think is a 7 or 7.5K. Maybe go a tuning clutch down the line if the gearing and carby changes don't help.
