I'm buying stadium truck off a guy who says he has a two speed tranny set up for sale separately. He said he bought it off eBay 3 months ago. It is brand-new in a unmarked bag. He said it has all metal gears and a shiny steel bell. The gears he Told me are 20 and 24 pinion and 40 and 42 spurs. I believe he said it also has metal gear on the differential side but I did not get that number.

I believe the stock gear ratio is 18/46. Going by a chart I found on this forum, these gear ratios don't make sense and if anything, looks like they would work on a 1/5 road car. The 24/40 could be a tall first gear on a 1/5 car what the 20/42 dozen even mesh together on the chart. Even if it was a 20/44 that's taller than the original stock gear and would be better off as a second gear. Unless for some reason the differential side gear is changed can make up the difference. What is the stock differential side gear?

I'm new to the trucks and am just stating what I think is correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong and give me any insight into the situation. This tranny is not on the truck and if it's not going to work I don't want to buy it.

Thanks

Hey Man,

I have a Fg Monster and the pinion and spur gear is 16/48 stock......the gearing on the FG Stadium is 18/46 pinion and spur like you said....You are probable right though that gearing for that set up seems tall for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would double check with him and tell him you will take it the truck at a reduced price!!!!!!!!!!
Where in Florida are you ??????

I am in central Florida!!!

that 2 speed could be off a onroad car.

You don't need to spend your money on a 2 speed, they are not as good as they are made out to be. I seriously thought about purchasing a 2 speed, after some research, quickly decided to invest $$$ somwhere else.

I agree with Clubin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get some well worth upgrades for engine,etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I also debated getting a 2 speed but for 200.00 ...........I will pass

Yeah, That's what I'm thinking but since it was an all metal gear set up he wanted two hundred dollars for (he bought it off eBay for 250) I thought it might have been a good deal. It is not on the truck, it was new in a generic bag with no part number on it. Maby somebody put it together or some aftermarket company made it.

But if it's not the right ratio for the car its not worth buying. The truck already has the jet Pro two silenced pipe, 5745mg, and 645 so it should be fine the way it is. It needs a new spur gear because he said the motor mounts loosened up and messed up the gear. I think I should just get a cheap be plastic replacement rather than metal. What do you guys think? Sounds on road to me. I saw a couple on ebay like it awhile back that where made all alloy.

The motor mounts will not effect the spur gear. He may be talking about the spur shaft gear that runs with the differential gear. I think the Stadium uses the 16t = http://www.rcnutshobbies.com/FG_PARTS_06000_06500-Steel_gearwheel_16_teeth_1pce.html or part # 6431 here =

With the set up you have 2 speed is nice if you want to crash real fast but most of the time 2 speed for me is not needed with a truck.

I run all metal gears and have never regretted it nor ever had a gear failure. Some like a plastic weak link but you had better have a few extras. Most will make sure that the carrier is alloy so it does not melt out the center.

hey man, not to get into your business but the guy your buying that truck from, do you know where he lives? That gear ratio on the two speed you mentioned and the damaged spur gear on the the truck sounds awful familiar.
