So I took the topend off my motor to fix the stripped exhaust bolt holes put it back together. Changed topend gasket as well as carb, exhaust and airfilter gasket. Started up and I stall out when i give any throttle. Also at idle it's just not running smooth it speeds up an slows down. What did I do wrong here. Is the ignition gap wrong? Tried to tune carb but not doing anything. Any ideas?

Are you using the stock 668 carb?....It's a copy of a Walbro...Trickle and Igetbombed had the same problem until upgraded to a real Walbro 813...They are on sale on DDM this weekend!..I use the 813 as well as many using these motors...

Don't know if it's the carb because it was running fine until I took everything apart. You think it could be anything else?

So I decided I'm done playing games with this hy motor. Ordered the zen 290 from ddm. We will see how that one works out :) . Has the wt 990 on it also

Same crap happened to me. I needed to replace the head after the screw hole broke on the head. All I did was swap that out, and now it won't stay running. Sounds like your problem is identical!

Let me know what you think of the new motor. Which one did u get? Post a link

Sounds like a possible air leak guys, if you want I will be happy to get those motors up and running for you free of charge. Just cover shipping is all I ask. :)

Funny thing is, I let the truck sit for a few days, did nothing to it, and now it started right up. Go figure!

Just bashed my slash through 5 packs well over 1 HR straight. No problems. When is 1/5 scale electric coming out :)

Obeast an airleak from the topend gasket?? I changed it out to a new one as well as carb, airfilter, and exhaust gasket? They to clamped down tight. Where else do you think leak ia from?

If it stayed running, it was flooded...If it doesn't, it was the carb or an air leak that clogged a bit then opened up again...
