Okay, so a few months back I posted a thread about my truck not starting. I've been working like billyo and not had time to sort it out till now. I have installed a brand new NGK spark plug, and a new FG pull starter... I have checked for hairline cracks etc on and around the cylinder head... Looks fine and has got bags of compression. The plug is getting a spark because I put a Allen key up the spark plug cap and gave it a pull.. Not a great way to tell if the alternator is working but it gave me a shock! The carb is fine and fuel is getting through without any problems. So everything that's key to get it going... Is working.... But it's not working.
Please help! I want to play!

Can you smell fuel, after removing the plug - if you've just tried starting it?
Is the clutch bell free spinning on the clutch shoes, when engine off?
When you prime the Walbro, does the bulb fill up to perhaps 2/3-3/4?
When you prime, can you see the fuel moving through the tubing?
Does it sound like it's trying to kick?
Does your carb have a choke, are you pulling until it 'coughs' with the choke closed, then opening it?

Al.

Yea it smells of fuel after I remove the plug, and when the I press the bulb it fills up to 3/4 with fuel just below where the bulb starts to round off sort of thing??
The clutch bell is spinning freely. Would it be an electrical problem or something? Everything that needs to get an engine working, is working but it won't start.

Here is my starting method.I pump the bulb untill it fills then I push it 2 times to prime the motor ,push the choke lever down and pull the pull starter untill it tries to fire,as soon as it does this I pull the choke lever up and continue to pull starter, usually start in7 to 8 total pulls. My carb setting are 1.25 to 1.5 out

My next thought is the carb maybe bad,it sounds like other things are covered.Usually if I start having running problems I put a new carb on it but I have never had a car I could not get started even if it ran poorly.Im sure you don't want to drop the money to get a new carb but from reading several articles its good to have a spare.

Is the plug wet from fuel when u pull it out?it should have some fuel on it if your carb is getting fuel after priming it. That thing should start in 3 pulls

i had very similar probs the last time i was out with mine, not tried it since, but on my last try of starting it (after trying for about 15mins!) i gave it a small amount of throttle when pulling the pull start & it kicked right in, so gunna try it again the enxt time im out see what happens.

Yep the plug is wet with fuel. I know and it used to!! :( pretty much given up with this truck now :(

sounds like your trying to start it with the carburetor closed,
Try using the carburetor idle screw or trim the throttle on your remote so the carburetor is slightly open

aye this is what the prob is with mine i think as i have my idle screw set very low just so it ticks over instead of high revs, as soon i opened the throttle a little it fired right up, ive now setup the throttle hold on my TX to about 10%, will see how that pans out next time im out :)

ideally you want it set correctly by the idle adjust screw or the idle needle screw and tx set at zero trim

Took the exhaust off and it was filled with in burned fuel! So there's fuel defo going into the head and there's most definitely a spark.. But no likey, no lighty!!!
