hi guys :)

ok since ive had my MB (about 4 years) ive always ran plastic spur gear with alloy carrier & steel pinion. Ive only just replaced the plastic spur (after almost 4 years!) with a new one as my old one had seen better days ^^

anywayz ive only had the new one on about 3 weeks (less than 4-5 tanks through it) but after today it looks worn already!? ...but ive also just fitted DDM Dom pipe (torque) as until now ive never had a tuned pipe... so im guessing the extra power/torque is just ripping through my spur?

The mesh is good & runs freely so its not that, not too tight or lose but after today its already showing signs of wear...so ive decided to maybe go for a steel spur which will give me an all steel setup for the gears this a good idea?

Ive never been a fan of all steel gears as i prefer to lose one of my stock gears than pushing damage internally, but i don't fancy shelling out £10-15 every couple of weeks for new spurs :(

If i was to go for a steel spur the one ive seen is this one for £30:

but what carrier would i need for it? as at the mo i have this carrier which is no good for the above gear:

I run all steel and have no problems, they are just a little noisey when you start to roll to a stop,go for the steel;)

will do ta mate :)

don't suppose u know what carrier id need for the gear above?

like i say at the mo im using stock spur wit alloy carreir so the gear above wont fit onto my current carier, i guess i need one that the gear bolts onto ?

had a look on ebay, none there :(

there was a all-in-1 spur on there a while ago but i held off & got another plastic, wish i never now! :(

think im defo gunna go for the 1 piece one rather than carrier.

Trebor - where did you get that one piece at?

Michael there are several guys here that make them..this being one of them

as you can see he machines the flats onto the gears bore.....this is ok as long

as its a tight fit if not then:2guns:your gonna get wear from the constant

back lash no matter how little that will be......my gears have 2 grub screws

with green loctite you can never be to carefull:lol::lol:
