I tried my servo it the thing wont center. It seems like it doesn't have the enough torque to center it and from some reason when I turned the wheel in the radio I could push on the wheel of the truck to the side and offer no resisteance.. what gives? Whats the alternative to this servo that would fit the chassis?

are you sing the wall charger.. the stock servo aint that good anyway. it may seem to operate slow when on the ground but its ok when your running it. wait till you hit the brakes. that servo aint no good either. its standard practice to replace rtr servo's anyway

ok, the HORN has to be mounted on the servo in the 1 "O'clock" position when looking at the steering servo mounted in the box.

that will allow you go get it centered with equal travel available both on the left and right.

now look at your steering whiper set off the steering servo. the left whiper post has a servo saver setup on it. there is a small hole in the top plate by the left post. that allows you access to the servo saver tension bolt. your servo saver spring SHOULLD be set at a height of 12mm from bottom to top of spring for stock servo saver setting tension. i crank mine down to about 7mm to keep it quite tite.

you ll have to play with the settings.

i too found the servo seemingly weak when the buggy is not moving, but once moving the servo seems to do just fine. though a stronger servo for steering wouldnt be a bad thing.

i ll be installing a Rhino into mine this yr. ive not been happy with the 5745 performance either.

i would like to replace my servo with a high out put std servo with metal gears but can not find the addaperers to do it with

GBE makes an adapter for using a single stnd size servo. i think Davesmotors.com has some in stock maybe. they are a bit pricey at 60 for the adapter, then you still need to get a servo. i would go right to the JR 8711 at 405 in/oz of torque @ 6v. or just buy the Multiplex Rhino 1/4 scale servo and alloy horn, and install with the HPI servo adapter plate, and call it a done deal. the Rhino is only 110, 15 for the horn so 125 total. has 383ish in/oz of turning torque @6v, and 272 in/oz of holding torque @6v

The Multiplex Rhino has 205.3oz torque and 383oz of holding torque@6v. No transit speed listed. Part number M65128.

The Hitec HS-5745 MG has 249.96oz torque and speed .15sec/60 [email protected]

Hitec HS-805 has 343.01 torque and speed .14 sec/60 [email protected] (plastic gear)

(Info was taken directly from the 2007 Hitec/Multiplex catalog.)

Rhino is available thru DDM here in the US. most hobby shops in europe carry them as standard equipment.

theres an option i found out about last night. the servos are on ebay, and sell for 48.00 new. not sure on manufacturer, as they are basically unlabled. but they are full metal gear, analog, and have 310 in/oz of torque (stall torque) at 6V. sounds live a very beefy 1/4 scale servo adn the reports ive heard on them is So far So Great. i guess they are pretty stout and reliable. maybe worth the checkout.

i think if you search baja steering servo, you ll find a few pop up on the bay.

ya in the photo there is a sticker, but according to the seller the actual units are not labeled i guess. but ya they seem to bea strong servo.

he also said they are the same size at the RHINO cases, so the adapter will be needed to use in the Baja.

what servo would be a replacement for it w/o getting my sledgehammer? I hate to modify too much..
