I have 2 No Hitec 755HB steering servos and a 645mg throttle / brake servo which is also operating the front cables. I am not keen on the throttle servo having to work the cables so was thinking of flipping 1 of the steering servos over and using it for the front cables then just using just the remaining 755HB for the steering. The 645mg would then be left for just throttle & back brake.

Question is how much torque do I need for a steering servo? The 755HB gives 183oz/in or 13.2kg/cm.
I could buy another servo but would have problems fitting it into my radio tray as it is full with having the 2 steering servos. In theory it seems like a simple solution but your advise would be much appreciated!

been doing some research & think I will stick with the 2 steering servos. I will get another 645MG for the cables & stick it where my receiver is. Will have to re-site the receiver box then.

you can get away with using one servo as throttle and also use with cable brakes but it needs to be a good servo, the 645 isnt the way to go, youll need something with allot more torque, at least 15kg @ 6.0v in my opinion.

ill be going cable brakes on my FG baja later this year and will be running 1 servo.

as sperera says you need a good brake /throttle servo ....

Andy you only get what you pay for.......

i use these on me marder/leopard and monster truck

Was it you who bought a bluebird servo recently mate? I have found this 1 which will do the job and is a good mix of speed, torque and price. How have you found it so far?

I cant justify spending any more than £50 on 1 so this seems reasonable.
The hitec 645mg seems to work ok for me tho so I don't know what to do now!!!

I replaced my single HiTec TB servo with a single Saxox 20kg one. Seemed to do the trick. I'm just strugling to find an alloy horn for it, cos I'm sure the plastic one is going to give in soon

LOL i was just about to post my findings of the bluebird but ill give you a quick comment.

Overall awesome value for money! Its very quick @ 6.0volts. And it now locks the rear brakes on my mt on any sufrace, no other servo ive tried had the balls to do this before. ill be getting another one shortly!

I don't know if it will be strong enough for cable brakes but I think its worth a shot, specially for the money. I bought mine from hobby king.

hiya mate :)

either the rhino digi 4 which you can get pretty cheap now as its been discontinued since Hi-tec took over mpex, or the Hi-Tec HS-5755 with a torque of around 20-25kg which is a stronger version of the HS-5745 (very similar to the rhino digi 4). All the above are prob the most common servos for brake/steering servos used for largescale, there is also the likes of tonegwa, but your talking big dollar for one of these.

either of those should do the job fella, like i say the digi 4 you be able to pik up at a bargain price as its been discontinued, not long ago one of these would set you back about £90 ...but now you can pick one up for around £50 if you look about ;)
