I say RTR so you can get out there faster. Should be cheaper to because with a kit you will be trying to buy the best to put on the car. Just get out there and have fun and up-grade as you go. What type of car that's on you what makes you happy. You should know what style you like. Myself in think I will get a 5t in the future.

Mike's also right get the kit and learn how to build it but if you do decide to get the
RTR make sure to check the diff because hpi never put any grease/fluid in the diff.

make it easy on yourself, get both :D that way when one of them breaks you will have at least another 1/4 to 1/2 tank of fuel you can run with the other one (at least till it breaks :D)

get the kit, before you do anything you learn how it comes together which WILL help as your going to break something sooner or later. even if you buy RTR its recomended to pull it apart and check everything anyway. kits usually have upgrades over RTR models anyway.
