So I need a replacement pair of bolts that hold the muffler to the cylinder head. I noticed that one is a little cross threaded on the end after taking it out, and I don't want to put it back in the head and damage the threads. Any thoughts on a part number to order them or does someone have any to sell?

You should be able to find them at your local hardware store. Are you using the stock can?

Yes, I'm putting the stock can back on until I get a replacement pipe from CPI. It may be a while.

Like RC Dad said, Sounds like its time to become very familiar with local hardware resources.... and perhaps look for that size helicoil, which will need to be a 2d ( thread depth reference)

If I recall correctly , the engineering rule of thumb for thread engagement concerning depth of fastners is 1.5 times the diameter. Times 2 is my personal preferance, although I was reassured that wasn't nessasary for most applications.

Some consider helicoil a substandard "fix" , but I saw many assemblies for cobra gun ships

that incorporate the use of them, in the original blueprints. They are referenced as STI. Steel threaded inserts.

Sorry for entirely to much information :)

I've seen that Helicoil before, cool stuff. My cylinder head is fine though, it's the bolt that I'm worried about. Thanks for all the info!

The head does strip easy. I've never messed up a steel bolt in an aluminum head. It's normally the other way around. I use studs in many of my platforms because of thread issues in the head.

Now that's forward thinking...

Definitely on my new list, is a few lengths of set screws and serrated flange nuts.

+1 for Redcat customer support. I called their support dept. to order a set of bolts and they are sending me a pair for free.
