how is the stock motor that comes with the truck. are they any good. or should i upgrade it now or just change the carb to a wt668.i don't have a rampage yet.buying one soon. just want to get some info first.

Chagning the carb is a good idea. The motors are still very good and have nice power. Eventually you can upgrade to a ported motor, but not really needed.

Yes I have had great success with the stock motor. The carb you are rolling the dice on and hope not to crap out.

ok thanks guys. i will be getting a copper gasket and wt668 carb.whats a good upgrade motor i want to buy a spare just in case.

i will get a exhaust then.one more thing should i break the motor in b4 i change the carb.

Does not matter. You can build your truck to your liking and then break it in or replace parts as they need to be. IMO a kill switch is the only upgrade that must be done first.

It comes with a failsafe which only controls servos. They are not even worth installing. The killer bee by Killer RC is the best. It is a kill switch (shuts down the engine).

copper gasket

I installed a copper gasket wjth permatex copper kote- tightened to proper spec. It did not hold- when i removed the top end- almost all the copper kote was gone- lasted 1 and 1/2 tanks of fuel. I have read on this site that Permatex ultra copper in a tube with a copper gasket will seal. I re ringed the motor and installed a stainless steel-graphite gasket sold by DDM. they say its blow out proof. When it warms up enough in Oregon, I will see. If it fails - I will go the ultra copper- copper gasket route and see if it holds- the cases are flush- the jugs not warped- only way to know is to experment ---

I had no luck with the copper gasket- Permatex copper kote, it lasted 1 -1/2 tank of gas. I have read here that Permatex ultra copper- and the copper gasket is the hot set up- Thing is about the copper kote- it washed off the copper gasket. even electronic cleaner- CRC brand- methanol will dissolve and wash this stuff right off the gasket. DDM makes a stainless steel- graphite gasket- the ad says its blow out proof- only 1 way to know for shure-
