Took some advise I read on one of the forums. I used undercoating & drywall mesh tape on the inside of the cheap plastic Redcat body to make it stronger. What a huge difference that makes. Only added about 1 lb of weight if that. Not sure where I seen the posts but thank guys for your advise. Keep that good stuff coming!

I use duct tape - waterproof where able.
Areas I suspect may need more protection - side, etc - I sometimes insert some double sided mounting tape before the duct tape.
It does add some weight, but really makes the body tougher - and also protects the inner paintwork from 'gravel rash'.

Just my personal opinion but isn't adding 1 lb (16 oz) of weight to reinforce the body/shell of a vehicle kind of extreme? It's not like you added a rollcage.

What's extreme is paying another $200 for a new body...the added weight is well worth it to me to know the body will last longer. Not sure where you came up with your 16 ounce figure though.

OP said his mods to his Redcat body added 1 lb = 16 ounces. That's a lot of weight added just for the shell.

And I agree, the price of these lexan bodies are getting ridiculous.
