Looks like it could handle a bigger pinion. What was the motor temps coming off that run in the grass?

It was hot, but not obnoxiously so.

I'm about to do s spreadsheet on it and will figure out what's going on.

W proper tires it rips pretty good, but I think it needs more pinion.

Who's got some good ones? Who's got brass ones?

It may have been hot from redlining the whole time....Pinions for 8mm shaft motors are reasonable from Dan Fisher at kershawdesigns.com: http://kershawdesigns.com/PinionsMod1.5.htm
b-rass balls maybe, but you don't want a brass pinion.....

it's only turning 20krpm.

i gotta figure out what the deal is. All the other charts, numbers and calculations are right on, but the rpm output of the motor is half what it should be.

I'm stumped

Where are you taking the RPM from

I figured it out. Just for giggles I'd full reversed it when it was in the air, sure enough ballooning of the tires occurred.


It was setup reverse and was cutting reverse power by 50%

Strangely you have to reverse a Futaba radio for it to be right on the MGM. Didn't know that.

It was totally ripping. I can believe 80.
Then it cut out again. Grrrr

On our 1/8 cars they do that it's the speed control and it happens going up the face of the jumps
The motor draws to many amps and spikes the speed control and it shuts down

Well, figured out one problem - seems the throttle on futaba needs to be reversed, redid the mounting - it fixes everything, then a motor wire pulls off, it spikes to 900 amps and now I get a blue and yellow light when it should be blue. When I try to run it it goes a little bit then cuts off.

waiting on the verdict from MGM but I'm pretty sure something is hurt bad.

Wow it was fast too.

Oh well.
