i bought my fg 4x4 beetle about 4 months ago. when new the shocks (x4) were shite to say the least. i could push car down and it would stay on floor. so i bought gpm alloy shocks from hobbytech in germany.

ok slightly better at first, but really same problem. there is hardly and rebound with these. i have tried to wind the pre load up on springs but still no better. springs are standard fg purple fronts / blue rears. the oil is 500 wt.

can anyone recommend all quality setup, shocks, springs and oil wt front n rear for this car so i can bash n jump with pease of mind as, it may aswell have no shocks at all at the moment.

i have a hpi baja 5b and want something similar in performance and bouncy as that. if poss?????????

Get some King Cobra balloon springs £10 a pair from Rossendale Models. These give more progressive damping & have improved my marder

Sounds like you might need a tad more oil in the shocks maybe?

doesn't show how close it is to the top arm but it is literally millimetres :D

Maudsley, I had issues with my Baja when I loaded it up with hopups and had problems with the rear suspension. I was asking similar questions on the Baja forum, ended being trial and error. I eventually settled on ramtech springs and messing with various oil weights. try getting a good set of hard springs then go with a medium weight oil try and go from there.
