Sway bars.....bending

Has anyone tried not using them on their xbe???? I'm in the middel of another rebuild after a big day out jumping at a mountain bike track, huge air, lots of smiles, but everytime I come back the sways are bent. I know I have sent it really hard ,but still even after lite use they seem to bend. I have made some out of a more durable steel, but they got bent too......might leave them off when I'm finished and see what happens.
 
Have you tryed using the spring steel that they use for landing gears on small RC planes? You should be able to get it at your LHS

be careful bending this wire and wear glasses. the wire can shatter like glass you cannot be 100% certan just what temper of wire you are getting. The car could very well perform better without the sway bars on a rough track. just a guess.
 
I run the XB with the front swaybar removed. And yes they do bend very easily. They can bend enough that they front sway bar makes contact with the steering linkage.

Ok good advice, if I use gas to heat and bend it will that ruin the spring steel?

That's whats happening, hows it working for you with it removed?
 
i agree, i bent the front on my xt and the end link was into the steering linkage so i took it off and ran it anyway, it steers alot better on the dirt,uneven corners didn't slide as much, some lean and just grip. will not be a part i replace. When i go wheeling in my 96 ram 1500 or my 96 cherokee the swaybars are always disconnected,if i don't they break, quickly so why not the same for the RC truck. sway bars control body leanrelative to the tires and road surface, great on pavement " highway cloverleafs," but they limit travel and steering performance in the dirt.

IMO it would depend on where and how you use the platform. Many of us like the rough terrain including jumps. It would handle better with out it. On a high speed oval or similar track I bet the sway bar is crucial and should help with stability.
