Tachometer do you use one?

Do you guys use them especially the big bore guys and why would you keep an eye on it if it can't really be controlled.Just wondering who and what the reasons are for using one.

Just have a photo tach. And I rarely use it

Im looking at adding WIFI to my EGT temp sensor and I can add the Tach to it as well , it would use a Android cell phone to read out them both. FYI ( maybe ios too ?? )

i use tto tach meters on some rc's , but recently they seem to be a bit hit or miss on reliable readings,
newer version seems a tad less accurate and harder to get set up right,
i used em mainly to record max revs on the engine, plus they have an hour meter built into em,
removed a newer version from my obr twin cos the tto's sometimes interfere , or seem to interfere with the spark at random times,

What do you mean it can't be controlled @siblues ? I mainly use mine like @spents said to check revs and for hourly maintenance. I use the trail tech one.

I mean controlled like in an automotive sense where there is a redline with a gauge and you can keep from over revving the engine.I am guessing these are mainly used how you guys are using them.That is why I came to ask the pros haha.Well would you guys suggest getting one to add to my order from Detroit to keep an eye on my big bore?

These just monitor the RPM's most 2 strokes are self limiting on RPM UNLESS you downshift and we don't shift so ! No upper valves to FLOAT and get bent. If you want to monitor RPM and time then get what these guys recommend.

Yep top rpm is self limited. Keep reving till the rod pops ?

well I get the whole automotive side of why you would want to keep an eye on RPM's I just wanted to get a bit more knowledge from more experienced Rc guys and why they chose to use one.
