I ran my Hpi 5b today and noticed that it started leaking from the gas tank cap . It also cuts off. I’m using a Taylor rc cap instead of the stock cap. I was wondering if I should using stock cap instead or the issue is something else . I’m running a zenoah g320 rc motor . Help with this issue is gladly appreciated .

My standard cap has a vent hole in it just like the Taylor cap , so expect it would be the same .
Are you sure the quick connectors on the fuel and return are not blocked/leaking ?, Is the clunk pick up clean , does t cut out at certain revs, in corners , under breaking ?

I notice it cut off during braking .

There’s no clogs in the line from what I can see . I noticed I had the same issue with my Vekta 5 . I notice the breather on my metal air tank fell off . The bulb barely had any gas in it .

Sounds like you have not got the idle set right and when you brake it closes the throttle too far , or the fuel pickup is sucking air as the fuel moves forward in the tank.
I’ll check the idle . But if it’s not that and it’s the fuel pick up is sucking air as the car moves forward in the tank . What could cause that ?

May be the fuel pickup filter weight is getting air in as it is too short or the pipe is stiff from age .
Just an idea .
I suspect that the throttle idle is set upon the radio rather than the mechanical stop on the carb, so when you brake , it closes the throttle enough to cut the motor . I know this can happen , as I have done it myself.

I did that . I set on the remote instead of on the throttle . Im to redo everything . Thanks .
