Nope. No need to really. It probably plugged it self though. If you overfill your tank you might get seepage. That would be the only reason to plug it.
 
Running my stock plastic cap i yet to have any problems , i guess if the car starts acting funny ill look into this, how can you tell the enging is starved of fuel besides bogging down
