Found a FedEx letter at my door when I got home yesterday. As it seems there is an issue with the Taylor 35cc engine out of the first run.
The letter stated premature wear on the piston thrust washers. In the envelope was a small packet with replacement gasket, lock washers, two thrust washers and replacement clips. Never expected to tear down the engine this soon. Oh well. At least I now know there was an issue and a fix and support from the vendor who sold the engine and from the manufacturer who made it. The letter also stated if you were not comfortable on doing the repair, Detroit Performance will send out a shipping label and do the work at no cost.
