OK, so I really never beat my Ramp MT like Moo does.............until yesterday. I went running with a few guys from the HBI Baja Forum and the had their 5T's, I took the Ramp MT and Baja 5BSS. They had never seen a Ramp before so when I took it out of the back of my car their first impressions were "HOLY CRAP THAT THING IS HUGE!" We were running at a spot about 10 minutes between our houses that the quads and bikes usually run on. It was sweet with some very nice, large natural jumps that were on a hillside. The 2 we were hitting had a nice lip at the top and the "ramp" of the jump was about a 25 - 30 foot straight shot that is curved like a ramp. I took it easy for the first few jumps and then said the hell with it. I nailed it at full throttle quite a few times and the Ramp was easily getting 6-10 feet of air and travelling a good 20-30 feet depending on my line up. I really wish one of us had a cam corder to get some footage. My only breakage? A bad line up off the take off caused the truck to "spiral" in mid air landing on the roof breaking both the front and rear body mounts, the Pro-Line body didn't tear or crack but most of the paint is now gone off the rear end. If anyone has any ideas on how to "strip" and repaint it with out the remaining paint bubbling I do need some ideas. The other casualty were the rear shocks. No broken shafts (surprisingly) but the seals did blow and all the oil is now gone. Thanks you Flea Bay for a complete set of Baja 5B SS shocks NIB for $90. (front and rear never assembled!). The diff cups had NO ISSUES. Tempering was probably the main cause of the breaks. Unfortunately due to a nice case of the stomach flu my bashing session was cut short. Both of those guys were impressed at the handling and durability of the Ramp. I do believe that I have to more folks to add to our ranks later on! Now I am thinking of getting another Pro-line body for my "shelf queen" look and keeping the beat up one for bashing.

Let me change the shock comment. After tearing them down I found that the left rear for whatever reason was just really squishy. no missing oil. The right rear was a different story. The top portion of the piston actually got pulled off the shaft and the lower piston half has the nut and e clip lodged halfway down without splitting the lower piston piece.

I do firmly believe the diff cups have been sorted, I've about 4 tanks on the ones in the rear diff and no problems...i tried a new bash spot yesterday running with maximum prejudice (my poor MT...not:D) and fried another set of MCD 27/33 gears, no other breakages though.

Yep, definitely solved. Has anyone seen a shock failure like that? I will post pics later as right now I am in the middle of tearing apart the new G270RC to replace the 3rd bearing with an oil seal. Better safe then sorry. Plus I am still looking for ideas on how to "repaint" the Pro-line shell.

I just took mine to a dark blue on the shaft. Once the heat line got to the cup itself I quit and let them cool down.

I was tempering a used one that was in my rig and it got yellow around the pin hole and then a little crackle and then a few off color lines started running out from the pin hole. Yep, the dif cup was already junk but I would have never seen it if I didn't temper it.

Just a quick question,

When you heat it,you want to heat the shafts themselves and not the cups?

How about the ones in the differentials?Do I have to do those too?I have my MT completely appart other than the differential split.

In other words do I do ALL of them?

The gears are fine as Moo says and side note don't do them just because my Heat Treat specialist had a good inclination they were powder metal process so a torch will ruin them.
