HemiStorm Penta

It is with great pride that I announce the first HemiStorm Products upgrade for the Losi 5ive: The HemiStorm Penta body.

Made from 2mm lexan this body isn't only made to withstand hardcore driving, it also turns your shortcourse 5ive into a Class1/Truggy styled ride by simply swapping out the bodypanels. For months we have been designing and developing this product to ensure you enthusiasts have now an option to completely alter your ride.

The main body consists of 5 pieces: A front section, a roof section, two doors and the rear panel. The front section, doors and rear section have all been detailed with louvre-styled "airscoops". The front section encloses a part of the rollcage, emphasizing the open cage structure of the vehicle. The doors close all the way up to the rock guard, and together with the closed off front section the amount of debris entering the chassis will be kept to an absolute minimum. The roof section is reinforced with 8 barsections to ensure your paintjobs will keep unscratched as long as possible in case of a rollover.

Apart from the 5 body panels the kit will also be supplied with 4 extra lexan panels. The two larger more square ones are to be mounted on the side of the cage, the other two can be used as a deflector on the rear quarters. We do advise to take these off or trim these down for hardcore racers, as they are vulnerable to damage, at least untill the HemiStorm spare wheel mount is released. We include these panels as an extra, because we feel they complete the overall look we desired to create when developing, what we felt would be, the ultimate 5th scale vehicle.

The HemiStorm Penta is a bolt on, ready to install option for your Losi 5ive. The stock Losi 5ive hardware can be used to fasten the panels to your cage All pieces come with a clear overspray film, and will be precut for your convenience. Alternative cuts to the body can be made if you wish to trim down certain sections, we merely provide what we thought would be the best look for this platform.
In the near future all the sections of the body will be available separately as well, making repairing a sustained damage on the track or at your bash spot easier and budget friendly.

We expect the HemiStorm Penta in at TGN and all other stores early April. TGN will be taking in orders for those who would like to reserve one in advance, to ensure you won't miss out when these hit the shelves.

Pricing is set at $ 249.99

The items featured in the pictures below offer you a sneak peek on what other gear we at HemiStorm have in the works for your Losi 5ive. These rough prototypes don't fully represent the finished structure, they are merely meant to give an idea of the shape and look we envisioned while working on this enormous project.

In the pictures you see a roofrack which allows for mounting 3 sets of front lights. The bumper is a direct replacement for the stock one, enabling you to simply remove the lights from your stock bumper and reinstall them on ours. The HemiStorm Penta bumper is narrow, has aggressive angles while not making any compromises towards functionality. These two items complete the HemiStorm Penta look, turning your 5ive in a 5th scale car that is as close to a desert racer as it will ever get. Both pieces can also be used in combination with the stock Losi 5ive body.

Expected pricing for both items combined will be $ 69,- excluding lightpods. Availability estimated late April.

Wow!!! I wasn't a Losi fan until now! That body is awesome! Great work! Might have to put my Fuel EX 9 on hold and get Losi! Either that or sell my 62cc :-(! Very nice!

its sweet indeed, but $250 for a shell.. if 1/8 shells can be bought for $25 ...why are largescale shells so fkin expensive, not just this one, but ALL ..FG/MCD/Losi/Hpi etc... end of the day, its just plastic!

price of shells for largescales is the biggest letdown.

if companys sold them cheaper, they wouldn't lose out, they would prob make more profit as they would sell ALOT more instead of just a few here & there.

The answer to that question is relatively simple. Although the comparison in size on paper makes it look like 8th scale and fifth scale aren't that far apart, there is a huge difference.

The weight of the vehicle. A tenth scale or eight scale car only has to sustain a certain impact, vehicles weighing around 2/4 kg. A Losi weighs around 18 kilos, requiring much thicker material for the shell in order to not crack and dent after one rollover. The thickness used in a tenth scale shell is at most 1.2 mm, a fifth scale requires a 2 mm sheet to start from.

Then you have the moulds and tooling, these big beasts are very costly to machine. Remember, an eighth scale shell is a single mould, the Penta is a five piece design, which comes precut, which also demands a second mould.

Last there is surface. A 30 x 30 cm sheet would be sufficient to form a shell for an 8th or 10 scale body, the Penta takes a 120 x 120 cm sheet in comparison, which is 16 times as much. Add to that the additional thickness, and you get an idea of the amount of material needed to make these.

I hope this clarifies why Largescale shells are costly, I can however promise you that a Penta outlasts a stock shell with true ease. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

tizdaz, I agree the bodies are more pricey but as Hemi pointed out with detail is that cost to make these bodies are far more than the 1/8 and 1/10 counterparts.

One very nice thing about the stock body and even Hemi's body is the fact you can buy the individual body pieces separately. So when you damage a fender or hood, you can simply buy that piece new saving you money compared to having to buy a new body like the smaller scale RC's.

It looks great but I gotta see it painted to really appreciate it this new look.....or is it meant to be clear?
It was fun Painting , took some time.
