well ive been thinking about moving my family from los angeles, i heard wisconson is the greatest place to live and ive seen picturs of charlotte nc, and i can easily transfer near to any major airport sinse i work for fedex id like to be close to work. im looking for more land and affordable housing, (under $500,000 and a city thats clean and nice people who think family is number one, do any of you guys have any suggestions Ill read them all!!

What type of weather are you looking for? There is a HUGE difference from MN, WI or any of us up north compared to you in CA. Cabin fever is the worst thing until spring arrives.... WI is beautiful as well as MN and land is available.. But winter is a killer!!!:( When it comes to taxes not sure the difference from CA to WI but MN is also getting crazy.:nono:

Some very nice bedroom communities here in Ct,but it's a Tax U 2 Death state:nono:

Well outside CA you won't get good Mexican food.
You, and maybe Frumpy to, could always move to New Hampshire. No state income tax, no state sales tax, it seems like a nice place to me when I go there. I am no fan of Connecticut, or even those two huge casinos they have there. Lots of tolls in the East Coast thats for sure.
You may get paid less by Fed Ex when you move. I would ask about that. It may depend on whether or not your an Independent contractor with FedEX ground, or Custom Critical, or a company driver with FedEX LTL or ground. Wisconsin is nice and if your near Milwaukee the winter is not to bad. Same as Chicago which is also nice. They don't get Lake Effect snow like Indiana, Ohio, and upstate New York get. I spent a day touring Chicago's downtown museums during Martin Luther Kings day, in February. Beautiful sunny day. Minnesota is colder as its winter is more like in the Dakotas. Minneapolis is a modern metro where people can vacation in the winter and never step outside. Right across from the Mall of America is a huge mall size indoor water park. Everyone it seems is very nice in the great lake states, my favorite people in all of America. And yes they handle there roads well during a storm and it clears up fast. Except I think Wisconsin does not salt, they use sand, and their roads suck during a storm. Florida is hot, rainy, no mountains or desert, and dirty. I spend a lot of time there for the theme parks though. Charlotte NC is nice, definitely not the dirty south. That State has beautiful, smooth roads, like they built their roads through a golf course. I would go with Milwaukee or Charlotte, tough call but they seem friendlier in Wisconsin. They seem big on flying real planes in Wisconsin, and also the only RC flight school is in Wisconsin. It is safe to say they are RC friendly. They have the best state fair and a huge music fest in the summer. I am glad you did not ask about Nevada or Arizona as to many of us Commifornians have moved there.

yeah your right about the mex food!, im thinkin were going to take a trip to charlott and visit some family that moved over there recently. The pay dif is 44 cents less that california but i will not have to pay $550,000 for a 1100sq foot house on 5,000 sq foot lot!!! and thats just a ok neigborhood.

That's just not true about Mexican Food. I live in Texas and we get Mexican Food as good as anywhere in the Southwest. You might also want to look at Kansas City, Missouri.

i don't know man i visited texes a few times and the mex food is ok but nuthin to write home about. but in los angeles i think the mex food is better then in mexico. hey hamz isnt missouri and kansas city flooding right now??

Try some of the surrounding towns to Boulder, Colorado, we were about to move there, and then we got really lucky on a house here in Nor Cal so we stayed. But on the top places to live, its always in the top 3, pretty damn good weather, still affordable housing, close to a metropolitan city and so on.

If I were to move from Cali, that would be the first place on my list.

movin from cal

Man you don't want to live in Missouri, I recently moved here from Wyoming because my wife has family here and trust me when I say they don't call it the state of misery for nothing!:helpsmilie:

Have you ever considered Alaska? I live in Anchorage and have been here since 1985. I came up here from New York with the Air force and have been here ever since.
We don't have sales tax or state income tax.
This is offset by oil revenue.
All residence even receive a dividend check annually from profits from oil investments. This years check will be over 2,000.00 for every man, woman and child that is a resident. Nice little benefit for living here.
As far as work goes, We have a major Fed Ex hub located right here in Anchorage.
