Hey everyone,I was thinking about getting a xb.Are they reliable?Will I have to keep putting money into it?I plan on using it a lot!
 
All 5th scales will drain the wallet. If you want it rock solid plan to drop some coin. Again this will apply to any large scale RC. The great thing about the XB is the starting cost is so low.
 
It also depends on your driving style. Keep some inexpensive breaking points.

And prepare to do some custom mods. They can be inexpensive too. Like inner tube bicycle tires for shock protectors. Or drill holes a bit deeper to have some more thread on a screw for a better fix...

But that's the great thing with 1/5 th scale: some parts are so large, you can go to a local hardware shop, instead of a distant dc hobby shop...
 
Like they have stated, it is the nature of the hobby to have to spend more money on other things... driving style will affect how many broke parts you come home with. I have not had major breakages, the money I have spent is mostly on what I wanted to upgrade for speed and performance.

Maintenance is going to be your best money saver... ensuring that you clean your ride and inspect it before and after a good time to make sure no screws are loose and nothing is about to break. If you do this, you will have a lot less heartache and you will not have to "carry" it off the track 10 minutes after you start playing. Nothing is more depressing than grabbing the front bumber of my truck and rolling it back to your station... :D
 
Welcome. You'll need the 7075RC bearing carriers, either an MT gear plate or the 7075RC gear plate, and the RAMTech adapters. The stock tires are junk, and will need to be replaced. Oh, and a new throttle servo. So, yeah you need to funnel some cash into it. It's an entry level 5th scale, so that's to be expected.
 
I could never by any RC and leave it alone. The whole idea is to make it stronger and faster. What comes off the shelf is the starting point! :D

Nice list. This will make it durable. Performance can come later.

I wish I could go by that. I like the bling and am a speed freak. Bad combo, lol. Well, bad on the wallet anyway.
 
besides the things deluge mentioned you don't have to do anything else except maybe upgrade your air cleaner depending on what conditions you are running in, i am like rcdad i like to try new things , so I spend alot but it is what I am all about, I cant leave anything stock, actually the best mod I made was cut down all the trees around my house LOL Have fun thats what it is all about!

When in one month you hit 2 different trees, it is a mod I was forced to cut them down they were a new breed they jump out in front of you and no I was not drinking, I think they were LOSI spruce LOL:cool:
