But shouldn't there be a larg air bubble in the primer if it was to lean?
The bulb are all filled up, without any air bubble.

Maybe two tanks on this plug. Will try a new plug tomorrow.
Don't know what that residue is.

The general rule of thumb - after a good thrash, if the bubble is empty the engine is too lean, the bubble is full, too ritch so you're looking to have it 1/2 full.

Ok. changed the plug out for a new one, but at the same time I noticed that the bearings for the clutch housing have generated some heat, and the plastic around them have melted. Now there won't be any more testing before I get new parts.

At the same time I'm going to wait for the new 668 carb, the HPI air filter setup and get myself a fresh can of fuel. And some GOOD oil! I do suspect that I have used to low quality oil. Whe have a low price store chain here in norway by the name of biltema, and I bought 1L oil for 3 dollars ;) haha I'm trowing that oil out and try again late this week when all my parts has arrived :) Thank you for all the help and sugestions, I will keep you updated ;)

umm i am using pennzoil marine 2-cycle oil from my local wal-mart LOL

Yes, but you can't compare the oil I have used for the last can of fuel with pennzoil.
I'm sure if we have some swedish or norwegian members on LSF, they can tell you something about this oil :) I also see that the piston has a thick layer of black oil residue.

yeah, everyone has a preference or certain availability of 2 c-cycle oil however i don't see a need to spend big bucks on 2 cycle oil for a stock 26s fuelie engine LOL. if i had a high performance engine that would be different but i don't :D. as far as buildup goes, i don't have any but i haven't really ran my baja enough to see that yet, is it oily or is it dry kinda looking like carbon buildup? if it is oily then you are definatley getting lubrication LOL, although it might be drowning out any spark you have

Everything points to the carb beeing bad. No mather how I tune it, it seems to get WAAAY to much fuel. The bulb is full, the spark plug is oil fouled, white smoke from the exhaust, oily residue on the piston head and last but not least look at this pic of the oil residue that came out the exhaust:

yeah thats to much oil spatter, gonna try rebuilding the carb?

Sure, I could try. Anyone know of a rebuild kit for the 990?

check fleabay, i picked up a rebuild kit for my 668 for 8.00 with free shipping, check in the lawn and garden section instead of the rc hobby section. you could also probably find a new carb in that section as well and don't have to worry about it being a clone and if there is one it is bound to be cheaper (stuff in the rc section gets marked up alot ;)

Looking at all the advice and setting changes you've made, I will go for a new plug - is your fuel fresh(no water contamination), fuel lines open, fuel filter clean, breather open? I know it is basic stuff, but maybe you overlooked something simple. Good luck, let us know what the solution was - please.

Well, new carb installed and it run like the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner together ;)

I guess Dough was right for now, the 990 carbs can really clog up in minutes.

Glade you got it running! I know MANY people running the 990 carb with out any problems. I have one but have not installed it on anything yet.

This is ESP's own words "It is hard for me to tell on line, but it sounds like you may have a faulty carb that has a low jet circut paritically clogged. I have seen some of these carbs clog up wither the H or L circut after just minutes of running, and then storage."

I'm going to buy a new or rebuild the old one, I did like the WT-990 as long as it was working like it should.

If it is only clogged up you should be able to clean it and blow it out with compressed air. I have gone to several large scale forums and this is the first time I have ever heard about the 990 have any problems.

One more thing that just came to my mind, I was filling up the tank VERY often!
I didn't think of it before now, but before the carb switch, it got only about 10 minutes on one tank.

Today with a new carb it was back to about 30-45 minutes.

10 minutes WOW! I use to get all most that on my nitro buggy with a very little tank. Yes I get about 45 minutes on my 5b SS.

And the female dog is back! After only a few tanks of fuel!!! I'm all out of clues!

The exhaust bolts was loose when I checked them after we stop running, I don't know if this can have something to do with it.

The primer bulb are half indicating lean condition, the spark plug are black and oily indication to rich!

This motor won't give me any peace!!!

How loose where the exhaust bolts? Where you getting oil coming out of the exhaust gasket? If it was loose enough it can sure make a difference. Sorry to hear there are still problems.

ok so you have now checked the carb, gaskets for air leaks, clunk and or inline fuel filter? have you tried a carb other than a 990? are you running 21:1 using highest grade pump gas?
