During the compression , spring's force gradually go up . But the same time oil's damping is constant.

I think that it is better to have gradually damping from the oil as in spring.
If I have ( ... I have ) a mode to modify the bore of piston's hole ,at first big bore and gradually to small , ... thats it.

What do you think ?

I talk about special absorbs and not common parts ( ... for crazy users only ).

I hope that you can understand what I'm (try ) saying , with 'my english'

that sounds liek a great idea vassilis!

would mean i could set shocks up very soft for rough rutted ground (very soft and light) and also with the ajustable dampening set it so it will take big jumps without bottoming out.

how do you plan to achive this? haveing a screw type thread on the shocks inside and a shock piston with a tab that fits in the screw thread and as the piston travels upwards in the shock the piston top rotates closing the hole making it pack quicker (aka the oil gets packed up faster)?

add me to msn. i was looking at your threads and i think i might have a go at making a propper 4wd racer this year if i buy a milling machine to machine my own parts form 6mm grade 7 alloy :)

Hi Vass,

I suppose it depends how much you expect the shock piston to move.
Trying to visualise it, it's difficult.

I suppose instead of straight holes in the piston, they could taper narrow towards the top, combined with using a piggy back format ... difficult.

The only other way is to perhaps insert a long soft foam insert into the top / cap of the shock body so the inside starts resisting as well towards full compression, where you expect the spring to be relatively stronger ?

Good luck.
Al.

Hi aaean , hi AL .

These thoughts (.... and some others ) kept me awake.

I think something like carb needle with main jet.

A conical needle stabilized into the absorb and continue through the piston hole.
So , I could modify the largeness of the hole....but I don't know if I'll modify
the flow of the liquid.

aaean : I don't use msn , sorry. What about pm ?
