That is my question :D

Ok so I got my XB this week and I've been doing all the usally looking into what I need to replace.

What I have done and/or have on order.

990 Carb

DT1 air filter

Outerwears for pull start, fly wheel, air filter

CPI pipe

Servos

Fasst rx to go with the 4pks

I was going to replace the gear plate with a hollow, front knuckles, c hubs, and rear knuckles. Now what I want to know is do I need the 7075 parts or is just replacing the bearings also a good way to go.

I am looking at $300 to do the 7075 parts so if just bearings would cut it that is the route I would go. Largescale rc has a fill kit for $45.00.

O and do I need anything else to install the DT1?

man me being new to this format of car its a tough call ..

i can tell you that i went the 7075RC route before i ever started the car, yes it was 300.00, but after being in the large scale side for over 10 years i learned early on just bite the bullet and forget about it.

i do understand your point, you are spending money up fornt in the right places with your list of parts and this time of year money is tight.

i can say this with absolute authority, the 7075RC parts are worth every penny. the front end parts are a Huge improvement over stock.

the c-hubs utilize bearings at the steering arm/bearing holder, top and bottom ,the stock parts do not. these parts also greatly improved steering slop reduction.

the rear carriers along with the fronts also utilize larger bearings, and they also elimiante the little spacers in between the 2 bearings inside the carriers.

the billet motor plate is , well , bitchin' for lack of a better term, my best way of explaining it is to comppare it to a stock gear plate and layshaft bearing housing set up on a HPI Baja versus a TR clucth set up...enough said there..Lol

take a look at my build thread and you can see the parts 1st hand

i hope this helps !!

I have to say go 7075RC.

It's not only that the stock bearings are weak, they are undersized. You can run a standard bearing in the 7075RC carriers because they take a larger ones.

O well that's good to know.

:( good buy $300.00. Lol.

Thanks IRP and I took a look at your thread. The gear plate looks sick.

I'e only been doing 1/5 scale now for 5 years and I've notice with some upgrades they just add to the looks factor and thats why I wasn't sure about the 7075 upgrades. Lets face it some companys plastic is just awesome and others is just awful. I was hoping Redacts would have been good to use. But not sure what they were thinking with the tiny bearings. I looked at that today.
