diff oils are recomended. with just grease, you will get alot of wheel spin. nothing else is needed. the diffs are ment to carry diff fluid, so they are sealed. as far as weights. we run anything from 1k to 100k. the heaver the wait, the more stress on diff parts.(i.m.o.)im running 7k rear and 3k up front in my mt. my tt is running 20k and 10k. its all a matter of tuning and driving style.

Yes k as in thousand. 3k is 3,000 referring the the weight of the oil. Shock oil and diff oil comes in weights which is basically viscocity.

the spider gears are the 4 gears inside the diff case. there is a total of 6 diff gears. the 2 remaining gears are on each side of the diff cups. the pins don't get tempered, just the actoul diff cup. now thats optional. i have yet to temper or need to temper any diff cups but you must use a torche to get it to around 700*(f).. redcat uses a small amount of diff fluid. seems pretty heavy, but they only use a small amount. the diff assembles quite easy once you open it up and see. just remember to pull the o-rings out of the old diff case and install on the new one.
