Another question.. I was racing against HPI bajas yesterday, and when my car was more or less functioning it was fun, however, i noticed it was way lower to the ground then theirs and they were getting huge air while i was planing my nose down every time (which bent my front bumper BTW)...

I have no shock pre-load in the front and some in the back, how far should i go with the pre-load??? Also, is there a longer shock shaft i could use that would fit? I was thinking of just getting HPI Shocks and trying to make them fit there for next time's race..

you also have a 4wd and is heavier on the front. so will do that more. shock oil or spring rate will have some to do with how it comes off the jump as well. if you are nosing in, it could be that the rear is compressing as you hit the face of the jump but is rebounding to fast as you hit the top and giving you a kick over. thicker oil and/or a heavier spring to help reduce this. increasing the spacers will lift the back up and increase the spring tension. but this also affects traction. raising reduces some traction to that end

the best explanation of setup and how changes of each thing affects how the car handles has to be the xray xb8 manual. it shows every single change with pictures. rcdocuments.com should have a copy of the xb8 manual

another thing that helps keep the nose up is keeping some throttle on over the jump. 5th scales it isn't as dramatic an effect as say an 8th buggy, but will help. and if you have any drag brake going on this will also add to it nosing in as stopping the rotation of the wheels does this.

Thanks pipeous,
so you're saying that putting thicker oil in the rear would be better? I was coming up those jumps WOT and it was doing better, but still planting a little bit, one jump i hit the brakes and completely plowed it and flipped it.
Also, i was going to put the MCD extra long shocks, do you think they will fit on my car? I will buy the shaft and the housing, since i already have the rest of the stuff to build them.
