I am thinking about putting together a package with ALL my parts added to a stock car/ truck. stock motor and stock tires but with a hitec steering servo and a custom roll cage/body. Roll cage will be 4130 steel and a aluminum body. I would have to charge $1500.00 but if you add it all up that's a good deal.

What do you'all think, a waste of time?

No, not at all!

I have ordered my XB back in June '13, I have put more than $3k on it, Didn't even use the Stock Servos, upgraded directly to Savox and currently reaching the $4K mark.

I updated almost everything from C-hubs, front and back tower, to universal dogbones to cage, steering rocker, bearings, rear upper link, etc... well I got company AL. parts for every single item besides the Lower suspension arms and Spring Shocks.

But trust me, it doesn't end here. Tires got ripped badly on the 7th tank, installed Rear Trenchers on all of em with HPI adaptors, updated the stock Carb, air Inlet, even isntalled the CPI pipe which made the Diff housing flex and break.. and now chassis problems are coming along the way. Yes im not happy with my XB. period

My advice is, for starters who want to REALLY have fun with a maintenance as low as possible, who really want to enjoy, bash the hell out of it and even race locally, the upgrades that you are going to install on it is indeed a very good idea. it will save them both cost, time to install and lesser future headaches. it is a good idea because he will end up breaking the stock parts after couple of tanks later, so better just get a starting good deal from the first place.

almost 4k on a Redcat is a lot. I regret it.. I could have gone a full Ready to Race rigged out Losi 5T instead, or even the 3000$ MCD RR5 competition factory limited edition 30.5CC ported high voltage servos Ready to Race that Largescalerc.com is displaying on their website. but hey, life is about lessons.

if the buyer is a Redcat fan and wants to have a tough truck maintaining the 1500$ or 1600$ range, I'd say this a decent deal.

I suggest the below Additional advices for the Top end Redcat:

-Replace and update the stock bearings on the entire car

-Replace the screws in necessary places (some of these screws are very bad and will end up loosened and even dropped while driving the car)

-Switch to Savox or Hitec High Voltage servos instead of regular and upgrade the batteries to 7.4V (killer RC has good ones)

-Throw in a Killer Rc kill Switch

-Lubricate all gears

-add an optional price for Trencher tires (VERY heavy duty and durable)

-add an optional price for Pipe (Cpi / jetpro)

-add an optional price for Updated Carb

-add an optional price for updated Clutch

-add an optional price for a good tier Transmitter

i 'm around 1500-1600.and well parted out with fresh parts alloy drive train mill to wheel. roughly 30 gallons! runtime total roughly 120hours. and thats about the life of the stock bearings, the rear drive/hubs are the most sensitive to wear fresh bearings across the back once and ready for the alloy diff boxesto go as soon as they get here!. front may go 200hours, BUT with larger bearings could be much better...

prostock mill option! .....gotta come outta the box a tire roaster!

"prostock mill option! .....gotta come outta the box a tire roaster"

I don't think I'll do that unless I can get a deal from O'Neal bro's for motors but I'll do an electric version and offer up some killer combo's.

Doug, you mentioned that you were redesigning the XB chassis.

do you know what would be cool? to have a provision/place to install the GTB Racing Hydraulic Brake Set. Initially they are meant for Bajas.

it would be one of a kind. and hell, if you can impliment that on your new XB gas Chassis design, I'd love to have that modification on it. From what I've seen in the Pics, it only neeeds couple of screws to squeeze that in. maybe a small mount would do the trick.

Furthermore, the stock Shocks on the xb are just... stocks.

would be a cool idea if you insert these badasses on the truck:

also Losi 5t shocks are not bad at all: http://rc-car-online.de/shop/en-artikelConfig,y3301.html

I think it is a great idea for the people that don't have the knowledge or don't want to spend the time to add all the parts themselves, I personally like working on mine! But at the price you are projecting it would be a great deal just like the XT you were selling!

I have read some horrible reviews on that brake kit.

With no center diff you can not adjust the brake bias front to rear. The Redcat brakes are actually pretty good.

That would be a nice kit. However they would better if you ran 2wd or figured out a center diff set-up.
