Hi,I just purchased this TQ/Shenqi 1/5 truck. It has given me alot of problems and now a new one has arose. When I give it the gas,the truck engine will rev up,the pinion and spur gears are turning and everything seems to be working except the truck doesn't move.Even the outer casing of the differential spins.I have been noticeing grease coming out of the diff for a week or so.How can I check to see if the diff is blown and needs replacement? Is this what happens when a diff is blown? If I do need to replace this, what other brand diff will fit this truck?Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site! :)

Are you certain the wheel hubs are tight? The wheel axles could be spinning in the hubs. Remove the wheels and check the hubs.

As for the oil/grease coming out of the diff, it's probably due to an o-ring on that may not be sealed properly between the sleeve and the housing.

The diff gears usually don't just strip, usually for that to happen the plastic diff casing would be broken like this pic that happened to me. You can see how it broke. All my gears were messed up:

Man, that brings back bad memories!
I hope your problem is the wheel hub grub screws have come loose. The other is so costly but needed eventually.

Check the well hubs and use locktite on them. And change the dif to aluminum. Any FG truck diff should fit.

Hi and thanks for all the help.I found the problem.I disassembled the whole rear end of the truck including the diff and found nothing. Finally I looked in the rims themselves and saw that the rear rims had been rounded off so the hub was spinning inside the rim.UGGG,all of that work for nothing.I just swapped the front and rear rims and all is fine again.I will have to get some new rims fast though.I have a DDM dominator pipe and when this thing hits powerband it's crazy. The front rims will probably round off fast also. Thanks again.

Did the rims crack then allow the squares to spin? Or did the nuts come loose and let them spin. If that type of rim does not come with a metal band around the rim square you should pick up some and install them to stop the rim square from cracking. If the nuts are backing off you may want to pick up some more or double them up to lock them on. Once they start to back off check them often.

Better that then being down with a blown diff!:cool2:

My friend has one of these. Nothing but problems. Good thing I am not really interested in trucks otherwise I would have picked one up myself as well. csp1971: my friend had that exact same problem!

Exactly The nut or the metal band.
I always by extra nuts and replace them if thy feel lose. Better be Safi than sorry.

merigold2005, you might pick up the set from Tower Hobbies (Firehammer MT rims). Cheap and will work with your truck, as will all Firehammer MT parts. Glad you found the problem.

Hi,these trucks are pretty cheap.I paid 485 USD wich is not alot but there have been alot of problems. The rims are 1 piece so there are no bolts and it did not come with bands. The squares actually tore the plastic out that they insert into. Most of the problems with this truck have been with poor assembly and cheap set screws. If someone bought this truck.Immediately tore it down and replaced all of the set screws in the rear end, aligned everything, changed the rims and radio they would be ok.For all that work and money you would just be better off with a name brand.I am going to upgrade to Firehammer and FG parts as they break. Thanks again

I have one and it has been great. I agree the grub screws are soft metal. The only problem I had at the start was the spur gear drive shaft moved out of position. My plastic gear carrier was not made correct and the shaft moved out of position. I had to shim the bearing hole and all is fine now. The body is real cheap. I had my truck body on the ground while I was changing the pinion and spur gear when a guy hit it with the body with his baja. It split the hummer body in half. He had a spare firehammer MT body and gave it to me. The body fits great and looks better. When I take off the wheel nuts I put on a drop of loctite on the nut when I put it back on.
