If I was to buy a 1/5th scale off road car for just track and racing which should I buy. Offer a suggestion for 2wd and 4wd. Looking for the best option right out of the box.

Thanks guys.

How much do you want to spend?

Good question.

Say up to 2500 dollars.

Getting spare parts is also a concern....

my opnion for that kinda money i would get the fg comptition monster truck, belt drive 4x4,best machine in my eyes,as for elcon cleon too weedy looking, those small skimpy wheels arnt attractive to me.(just my choice)
check out hobbythek.rc.car.de germany,fg are built in germany so these guys are the kings for parts and supply.

or if cash was an issue i would start out with a standard rwd (rear wheel drive)fg beetle and upgrade it to a compitition spec(what i have done) and install the elcon drivetrain system on it,wouldnt cost the earth and you would have a bulletproof machine, and a nice looking one.also if you wanted you could upgrade this if you really wanted to 4x4. there is a kit from kamitiro available.

best of luck with whatever you decide.

Gee...I don't know man,I've never really been much of a buggy fan....but...that Cleon gives me wood:blink::D.You certainly can't say the quality isn't there... although I must agree with skimpy wheels.

the only FG model that kan reach up to the KNEES og the Elcon Cleon is the Leopard.
if you want a real buggy for pure racing. FG leopard. ELcon Cleon, Harm BX2 or Lautherbacher super cross ar your alternatives.

i wolud prefer the Cleon simply becaus its a machin that is built from the bottom up to be a pure racing machine.

its ekspensiv but quality costs plain and simple.

I know nothing about MCD but Losi parts are widely available here in the states. It's nice to score used good condition parts on the cheap locally. IDT I'll ever buy a new rig again. Too many good deals locally.

BTW more than half the guys who responded aren't state side.
