I am using a Spectrum Dx3 so far no problems with 1/5 scale..
I was using this for nitro...
How ever the miss's wants to run my nitro..
It was suggested I get a Futaba 3pk 2.4 gz fast
Now I know very little about Futaba seeing how I have always use Hi-Tec
servo's and not any other Hi-Tec products as to there trans & rec's...

Was suggested the Futaba has great fail safe if use digital servos..
It this point I only have 2 RC trucks ..And seeing how I am 64 yrs ols I don't need much more in toyz..I will be as of now running the 1/5 scale firehammer..
Of course I want a FG one of the cream of the crop to say...
Any suggestions on transmitters & recievers ...would like to stay in 300 dollar range if possiable...Just want some help here ..some of you know this better than I do...Thanks for any help..AKA Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

To me FUTABA TX & RX is the best. The 3PK is a good chose. But if you are wiling to spend 500 $ and get the best. Then go for the Futaba 4PK.

Shiny: thanks for your reply..4pk too much money for me..I could never justify
of having one..I just a country bumpkin..run on grass maybe a little dirt..
I will see who serious the miss's is about this RC stuff..I can switch back to nitro
on the spectrum and let her have a go at it..May work my not..she just may say to heck with it all together...I am ok with my 1500$ nitro with her..
But not my firehammer as of yet..Heck i haven't even driven it very much..
I want to be the frist too smash it.. if that happens...at least i can pic up what's left...Was my rebuild...So on that note.. I will see how it goes this week
..I think my best bet is to get a Futaba 3pk for 300$ if can find one for that..

i agree, the 3pm FASST unit is a great unit for 190ish bux. run digi servos and its very good (using HRS mode for all digital servos)

a 2nd rx gets a 2nd rc up n going easily too.

but on a gasser, i would recommend you buy and install a Motor Kill Switch like the Diemaster Modded Picco kill switch or the battleswitch from demension engineering. great units, any issues, and the motor shuts down. if the motor cant run, you cant have a Run A Way from weird glitching or such. with a motor kill switch installed on the gassers, a standard radio failsafe becomes a mute point imo.

slawhammer's project you will see in post 4 I did wire up and installed a kill switch
also in post 16 you will see better picture of wiring pig tail..
Like I mentioned before I have no issues with Spectrun Dx3..works fine
Only now if miss's wants to play with RC ..I will have to get different radio system..Thay's why was asking about Futaba 3pk.

as for a kill switch it is a must , the one im using is a very good unit thats made here in AUS . even if the reciver battery wire is cut or anything like that the engine will shut off .

Jasrx:::Not sure with spectrum DX3 ..although I have had no problems as of today..I just read where the Futaba 3pm or 3pk is slightly better in responce
or faster to use..Like I mentioned I did wire up a kill switch for 3rd channel
on the spectrum..should do the trick..low signal=Kill engine dead battery=kill emgine or you can manual kill engine from button..
I am nor sure what you have but sounds interesting..

if she wants to play with RC or not..I did find a 3pm with rec for like NIB for 207
shipped..Also looking a 3pk with 3 rec for 230..so I will know in a couple days
with the miss's...But might not be a bad idea to just buy another radio system

Shiny: well she has her money and I have mine..So there is no conflict
on who buys what..she has her little craft hobbies ..Just like RC has been mine for over 50 years....This hobby is what kept me going after my heart attack
wasn't for that ..I don't know what I would have done...I will tell ya a short story....OK ..they put in 5 vains for mu heart in operating..In recover I had a beed out..that's when 1 or more vains didn't hold..I was taken back to surgary again....I must have died on the operating table..cuz there was a tunnel of
light I was in drawen to a shadow figure..closer and closer I could almost make
out the figure When BAM..Called back to real life as we know it..From there I went back in to recover again...Now things were not right again..So back for a 3rd time for operation...Yes 3 times in same day...Went to recover..was in coma 7 days....When woke up..I could not move my left arm..Few days went
by and was also told I would never walk...Now this is quite a shock to hear
I said never say never too me..I will be out of this hospital ..and walking..
total of 14days expired and I was walking very little but walking..All this time I was thinking RC Stuff what am I ging to do about that...
I got home and took on a different project and made my self use that left arm
I have no idea about the pain there was...well with in 6 months I have full
use of my arm again and walking Like never happened...Now all about the surgary I was told about what had happened...I am on meds for the rest of my life now..So some days I have it together and others not so good,,
But the love for RC Hobby kept me going gave me hope some to live for..So don't say never..don't give up...I now have a different out look on life...
I take each day for what I have at the moment and enjoy it..
These forums are my life line from you people who reply too me...
Like every one is part of a new family...So now you know more about this old man...So don't feel sorry for me..I am tough and have been thru alot..
So don't just take each for day as I can do it the next day..You may not get the chance....Love all replys form you all...AKA Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

Well I have the 1/8 scale 4x4 Nitro with big block engine I modifided..
ported sleeve & crank mod..Many up grades to that aswell
And now I have the firehammer 1/5 scale..I think right now this all I need
You may have seen my thread in the other forum..By the time I am done with the firehammer it will be all new again..I have a spectrum DX3 I use now for the firehammer..seems ok..If I do anything.. think I will get a Futaba 3 pm use that for the firehammer and then spectrum for the nitro..
