Time for some xmaxx upgrades. I see the wide Maxx Kitt as possible 1st upgrade and traxxas shows xrt steering and carrier as bolt on upgrades. Anyone running this combo and how are they holding up?

After 4 years, a proline unbreakable body and badlands only upgrades. Tires still fine but body showing it's age so probably going to replace.I do abuse truck and am amazed at durability other than body popping off.

Any suggested ideas appreciated much. Going to stick with stock motor, 8s fast enough

Got some time and disassembled the xmaxx. Was hearing a clicking noise .Dug threw the parts stash and found new set of bumpers, set of outdrives for axles, complete diff and pinion set. After disassembly found front diff noisy so put new one in with new outdrives.Rear outdrives destroyed and probably the source of noise. Put old front outdrives in rear, they were in good shape still. New diff was empty so refilled. Took center and rear apart and cleaned and refilled. Center diff had what looked like putty in it ,rear was empty. Had to make some spacers for motor mount bolts ,chassis got so soft they were pulling through. Filed flat spots on 4 washers solved that.Amazed at all the abuse the truck has seen and no major issues. Put back together with a clean-up and ready for 4 more years of abuse. Still running stock spur and pinion, and steering servo. Turning off traction control seems to have saved it and removing pinion and running set screw all the way in and relocktite worked on that. First things I did when I bought truck........heard the stories. Widemaxx kit and xrt carriers with steering knuckle and bearings be here Tuesday. All bearings and hardware still good. Could use set of skidplates ,pick some up next trip to Amazon. Had a can of nitro clean probably 15 years old, still did the job, back from the savage xl days ,miss that thing.....

Got all my goodies in.Early day at work so getting a jump on things. Did get new rear bulkhead, skidplates, motor mount, bumper mounts.Figured while I'm in there might as well........ At some point I had installed rpm rear carriers. Just to show difference between xrt and stock front and rpm rear carriers and steering knuckle photographed everything for anyone curious. Quick easy process so far. Gotta rebuild shocks and finish up today. Nice little project with some good updates for me. Still thinking about body change but will see...

Looks good. I just fell off the wagon and picked up a xrt. Its my first big electric and gota say had a blast with it on a track. I hope it hold up as good as a xmaxx.

You will !!!!! Don't forget to turn off the traction control so you don't burn up steering servo and highly advise pulling pinion and running set screw in so it's visible in bore then remove, loctite and reinstall. Traxxas does not seem to get them tight and breaks pinion and spur ,otherwise tough trucks. Just finished disassembly again turns out still had a noise ,center diff bad . Going to get xrt parts considered upgrades for xmaxx.

Thanks for info, i wii check out the pinion. As soon as i took it out of the box i replaced reciever and controler with a better one..traction control is really off...lol. i am almost impressed with how good they go for what they are.https://youtu.be/1Z4qfSqAOGc?si=oqNdF5PLX53b4xml
