Don44 asked me to paint a TT shell for him. My first paid gig...lol

I told him that since I was in the process of moving I could not get to

it for a month or so. He didn't mind the wait. Anyhow, once the body arrived

I could not resist applying the liquid masking right away, it was actually a

pretty relaxing thing to do. After several coats and a couple days drying I

again could not stop myself and had to draw the design, cut and paint all in

a day. I think Don knew I could not just let that body sit there for a month

and do nothing to it....lol..anyway, finished way ahead of schedule...

He was great to work with. Had the body shipped from LargescaleRC but they

screwed up the order and sent an MT shell. No biggie, they replaced it quickly.

Great guys there.. :)

Don wanted red, white and blue to be the colors and that's what he promptly

sent me. He didn't specify any design, his words were "go crazy with it".

I didn't want to go too crazy but had to think of something kinda-cool..

Figured he wanted any American flag type look to it because of the colors so

this is what I came up with. The first picture you see was taken right after I

finished painting. The last two pics are after I did a few mods to the front and

rear windows for ventilation plus cutting out all the holes for roll-cage clearance

and the pull-start handle.

Don actually paid me more than I asked for so thanks for that. I am very happy

you liked the work...

Very nice, love the cutouts with the screen, paint looks fantastic
Thanks fat49f1...

I also added aluminum tape to the inside of the body in many areas. It'll help

keep it from getting scratched when he puts it on and takes off.

How did you hold the screen in place, and where do you get that thick screen

I was going to use some tiny nuts and bolts but I could not figure out where I

left them...lol

I used some of the aluminum tape. It holds real good and won't come off unless

a huge rock goes through it. He can just buy a few small flat head bolts if that

happens. Some white paint on the flat heads will help blend them in.

That looks like it could be a stock RTR body. Very neat, not too busy, but still flashy!
That what I was going for, nice but not too flashy. Something that looked

custom but wouldn't hurt your eyes...lol
