hello,I'm new to the forum and 1/5 scale, taking a break from helicopters.I have a redcat tt and it starts up fine but wont take gas at wide open choke,if I adjust the choke between open and close it runs ok but doesn't have the power it should, does this sound like carb trouble or something else,I cleaned the carb pretty well and set the h and L needles back to where I started but I'm not sure its tuned properly.any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wide open choke, or throttle.
I don't question your knowledg, I just don't understand.
If the choke's on, it could be flooding.
If it's full throttle, then it could be too lean.
Check spark,
check factory settings / high/low carb settings,
check electric cables,
check coil/magneto position,
have you got fuel in?
try changing the plug.
Al.

do you see alot of smoke from the exhaust or hardly any?

if you see alot of smoke, lean it out (clockwise) if you see no smoke richen it up (anti-clockwise)

& does it only do it above 1/2 throttle? ie: low speed does it run ok?

If so then make sure you adjust the high speed needle if its a zenoah/cy engine.

tuning questions

I appreciate all the help,I feel like im on rcg, everyone theres been so much help for me in the heli world,I think I have a tuning issue and as soon as weather permits I'll be outside to give it a try , thanks again for all the help.

the carb settings are independant as well. unlike nitro engines. with a nitro if you change the top it affects the bottom but not these. low on these is about the first 1/3 of travel, high is the rest.

you could get it to factory settings, pop the truck on a milk crate3 and open the throttle up and tweak the high end needle until you get some revs. then go from there
