Stock Motor – DDM Side Pipe When I take off the truck runs for a short distance and then seems to hit its peak (full throttle) its like is sluggish on the low end when taking off.

Motor does not die, starting could be easier, but it will start after allot of pulling, and for some reason it does not like the full choke when first cranked.

So I am asking for some tuning help. Thanks in advance.

You have a air leak . Check the head gasket and see if it is torn and pushed out. Also check the head bolts make sure there tight. If both of these areas are ok then you might check exhaust gasket and intake gaskets next.

Everything seems OK.

I find it strange that this being new would have something loose. (sorry its just funny to say that)I have checked the head gasket, exhaust gaskets and made sure the carb and intake was ok. Nothing looks wrong.

The motor runs good, idle is very good it’s just I may need a little adjustment on the needle. It does have all the power once running at WOT. Its just when I am starting off and I give it full throttle it takes just a little to get going and then once running after few seconds then it kicks in. Once I am moving and keep tapping the throttle I can power slide or go WOT and seems OK. Maybe it’s just the small motor moving the heavy truck. I have watch videos here and it just seems like maybe I need to fine tune the motor.

Check for a carb leak and exhaust leak. Set you H and L back to stock cy starting points. Sometimes if you spray carb cleaner or wd40 (lightly) around the carb while its running it can find the leak. Is your cap vented? Is your gas/oil mixture correct? With MT gearing and MT tires (vs buggy gearing w. excavators) mine seems a little slower top speed but it still runs great and gets there quick. Are you running the stock air filter? If so they need frequent maintanence to keep dirt out of the cumbustion chamber, get a HPI much better. Its easy to check the condition of the piston/ring/wall if all else fails.

I clean my air filter every tank, yes it’s the stock air filter. Nothing seems to be leaking that I can notice.

Cap Vented??? I thought they fixed the cap in the V2, that is what I read.

Nothing has been adjusted ever. It’s as it was out of the box.

I may try to use another mixture. I bought some oil from Lowes, it seems to work fine in my 28cc Edge 540 and my 28 cc Super Decathlon.

I will try some WD-40 around the carb while it’s running; the exhaust gasket seems fine, no oil leaking from anywhere near the gaskets.

It just seems be slower on take off than I would think it should be. It just seems a little sluggish or maybe missing power when I am stopped and then go WOT. Once maybe like 1 - 2 seconds it gets up and moves and the motor sound like the power I would expect.

http://i37.tinypic.com/2eoh4dy.jpg Look at my fuel cap mod. I used a a filter to insure no dirt in my fuel. I drilled out my cap and forced a piece of 1/4in fuel line and used an inline filter . I hope this helps you. I too had a hard time tuning my TT before I did the mod.

Sounds like you may jut need to tune it a bit.....

So what are your H and L at?
I don’t know, I have not adjusted anything because the truck idles, and does seem to run very well once the thing gets moving.

I may need to use a fresh mix; the mix I am using could be older than I thought. I am searching around for a good synthetic like other have suggested here. We have a LHS that sell the Redcat mix, but I don’t know if that is a better choice.
