i have seen some two speed gears for fg buggys etc for sale on like ebay and the likes , i just want to know how do they work as it seems like there are two cogs on the shafts if there the same shafts how dose it move from gear one to the 2nd gear im just after info on this as if both gears are on same shaft and likewise on the large gear being on same then how can it change , in not to well into the gears and that so any info would be welcome on this thanks in advance mark

Two speed works with RPM. The spring tension is what is set to change the gearing. I would pass and stay with a single speed in MO. They are temperamental unless you are lucky and keep them clean.

I'm with BTB. I just sold a car and let my 2 spd go with it and went back to a single. and this is on road. the 2 spd just stopped shifting. in dirt it is worse. the 2nd gear runs on a one way bearing and free spins until the revs get up to the point set by the spring adjuster, then an arm swings out and engages a pin inside the housing.. the pin wears after a while and I had replaced mine a few times using a shock mount screw (lower) and a dremmel, but the swinging arm itself had worn to the point of uselessness...

now in dirt, that one way bearing is going to get dirt in it, which will bind it up and it'll get stuck in second gear. I might try a 2 spd again, but definately buy a new one so I don't have to fight with someone else's wear
