Twisted bones,

I am new to these types of motors. I have raced 1/8 scale Nitro for a few years and this is my first 1/5 scale. Can you give me the quick basics on tuning. I was just running and it felt like it was rich bogging of the start. I turned 'in' (CW) the high-speed needle, which I am used to being the direction for leaning and the bog got worse. I then screwed out (CCW) the needle and it felt much more responsive. Is outward turning (CCW) leaning? Sorry for the stupid question.

Never mind, screw in clockwise has to be leaner. There must be other problems, engine runs for a bit then stalls. I am going to check the tank hoses, vent cap? Hopefully I get her raging soon, I bought it a few weeks ago, and all wrenching/rebuilding no running. Boy does it look good though.

you have two needles a low speed and a high speed needle adjust the low speed needle to get it to idle then rev the engine if it bogs turn the high speed needle in a 1\4 turn at a time till it revs good you may have to adjust the low needle to get it to idle

Will keep that in mind next time I need to adjust the carb.

As for pipe fabricating and port timing formulas I will stick to this book.
