can anyone explain tyre compound numbers etc to me or point me in the right direction to a chart or something?

In PMT tyres you have 05, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and even split compounds - these were Kronos and not used any more. 05 being soft and 35 bloody hard.
GRP you have A, B ,C, D and it used to be, A was soft D was hard but they've been buggering about with the compounds so they're a little mixed up now.
Soft in cold weather and poor grip hard is the opposite.
