Dunno if anyone else has got one of these yet (I seem to remember Ginge has one), mine arrived last night.

First impression was FANTASTIC build quality , super tough and BASH PROOF !

But when I got round to fitting it..... major headache !!

With the pipe and header joined together, and the header bolted to the engine head, the lower bracket that attaches to the rear end of the chassis (just above the rear "bumper") was about 3mm too far back and about 5mm too high ! And there is NO FLEX AT ALL in this whole system. It is VERY rigid.

(I wouldn't have wanted to "flex" it into place anyway, as this would have put excess stress on the header / engine head junction, possibly snapping bolts)

It took a whole evening of fettling and dremeling and some carefully positioned packing washers to get a good fit.

Was quite surprised as Uber stuff is usually spot on.

Please tell me you didn't do any mods to the pipe, give uber a shout to either replace or say why its not fitting coorectly.

I've no got second thoughts with getting one.

I did end up modding the pipe slightly. Nothing too drastic, but managed to get it too fit. Really didnt want to be putting it back in its box and sending it back anywhere leaving me without a pipe.
Im presuming these are just the dimensions they are made to.

It's a pity as Uber kit is generally top notch. I had the same thing when i got my Jetpro v2 formy SS but mine was fitted from new. do you think that you reaer assembly has been knocked out of line over time? I've seen you jumping at Deeside:lol: Seriously though things can shift as it's only plastic in the main at the back of the Baja

I did think that was a possibility but took everything apart to check and all was well. I think if it was a Dom pipe (in alloy , and with only one mounting eyelet) then it would have easily "flexed" into position with minimal force. But this thing is stainless steel and ROCK SOLID !!

Fair do's, lovely bit of kit though. Makes me want a Baja.

I'm with you Pete. I'd make it fit too, then send a complaint email... I am getting a jet pro fixed. lifetime warranty baby.

you got a pic of the actual pipe? maybe back about 2 feet? never seen an uber pipe

They are very hard to weld is the problem they move with the heat they are jigged up to weld but they still move a little once they have cooled down.

We have had a return out of the many we have sold there are over 100 out there now. And that was only a little blob of weld on the header.

If it's a problem send it back and we will have it re-set. They are QC'd on the way out but it's hard to tell as they are only slightly out.

Cheers

Gareth.

Hi Guys,
Im Mark from UberRC, thought i had better sign up to this forum and slap a quick post in this thread.

Sorry to hear youve had a fitment issue with one of our Predator pipes Pete, like MiniRipper has said there plenty out there now and weve had about 3 with issues such as this, the good news is weve worked hard to get to the bottom of this issue and are confident we have it sussed. Basically the header piece isnt always perfectly square onto the engine when mounted up. This slight misalignment means the pipe moves out from the bottom bracket and away from the car when trying to fit it up.

Weve solved this by getting the header pipe skimmed perfectly flat now.
Unfortunately there may still be the odd pipe out there that suffers from this issue as your finding.

At Uber we take problems seriously and even though you have altered the pipe i would be more than happy to get the pipe back and machined to perfection for you.

If youd like to drop me an email with your details then well get that arranged for you Pete. [email protected]

Also heres a pic of the pipe for those wanting to see it....
Thanks guys.

Actually I don't think that bashed baja is so straight and i had 29cc head which wasnt aligned compared to motor. And how accurately build are these cars afterall.

Wow ! Just got in from work to check on this thread !
Didnt expect that response !!

Firstly, big thanks to Mark from Uber ,and Gareth from MMR for contributing. Like BiggaJ says, many would have ignored this !

I didn't want to sound like I was slagging Uber off at all, because I have bought many of their parts in the past and have found them all to be top notch (as is the service from MMR - cheers Gareth!) I was just a bit surprised at the slightly "off" fit of the pipe and wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this.

Well , I couldn't ask for better customer service than that could I ? !!!
I will drop you an Email Mark, and we can go from there.

Once again , many thanks y'all !!!:D

Pete

Can't argue with that, top service.:cool:

I do love the look of this thing. Just got to part with my dosh and get one ordered.:lol:

Mate, they are SERIOUSLY well built . All stainless and really thick wall tubing as well. Mark has said they have sorted the fitment issues , and judging by the performance of the one that Ginge had on his 5T the other week at Deeside , they certainly work very well !

Aye, Read somewhere they are only slightly under the Doms for performance.
Think it was with a standard 26cc the Doms edged it by as little as 0.5hp, but the Pred is supposed to give a smoother overall run

They sound nice too you will agree.

They are more "tucked away" than the doms which I like.

Plus , to me , they look way tougher than the Doms

Uber posted the power graphs on there own website and also give the figures that the DOM produces. You are right the Dom provides slightly more power in both torque and HP but it's marginal and not something that really matters when the power does seem to be more rounded and the quality of the pipe makes the DOM look way outclassed as well as being better priced.
