Got my new motor yesterday from redcat and have finally got a taste of the mt works good the wait for the new motor sucked but got some stuff done while waiting.....completely stripped and reassembled the truck,fuel tank vent is done,hitec 645 throttle servo in killer bee switch in now,next is pipe.also I have a friend who is a small engine mechanic who is going to port and polish the motor for me..has anyone done this? And is it worth it power wise?
 
If he knows what he's doing then yes. You can over double the hp with a good port job.
 
yep!! definitely can be done if you are confident on what it is your doing to it and not going to far.Hell I'm getting ready to go bat poop crazy on a head in the next few days
 
Nothing wrong with trying to port. I want to do that someday to see what changes on porting can do

Just an update,I've decided not to try the porting...having too many issues with the truck.the new motor came and the air filter was broke,the carb is screwed,stock radio malfunctions causing the truck to go wide open sometimes (throttle servo was just upgraded to hitec645) it's melting receivers like crazy...this truck has been nothing but problems from day 1.had it a month or so got maybe 4 tanks through 2 different motors and issues just keep coming.right now it's a 800 dollar paper wieght :/ I've emailed redcat hopefully they will do somthing..
 
If I were to have these issues I would start with replacing the TX/RX and the battery. If the communication to the truck is poop the carb don't know its ass from a hole in the ground and won't preform worth a darn.Upgrading that area and you may have a enjoyable truck. It's just my 2 cents and hate to see fellow members shaking their heads in frustration.
 
Yea I plan on upgrading the carb to a wall to and getting a 5000 mah battery pack when I can afford too,just ordered my dom and a tgn dt1 filter today before I noticed all these other issues lol.ill get it all fixed up just gonna take time,just pisses a feller off the truck isn't a month old and it's on it's 2nd motor,2nd reciever etc etc lol
