So now that the outside temps have come up my motor temps are going up as well. Getting close to 170 in the middle after ten or 15 min of run time. 190 on the end. Other than that I like this motor. I've clocked the car at 60 mph. It also has great acceleration. This is on 6S with the stock ESC. So what motors should I be looking at to get the same speed, but, cooler temps. Also I've been thinking of going to radio shack and getting a 5V computer fan for the motor to keep it cool. I ordered the MMM XL for the data log feature and to give me some other future motor options. Any other ideas?

190 degrees would scare the Sheet outta me. Then again the stock motor did that also. The 1717 is just mismatched. I am gonna get a mount that holds the 2028 . I keep telling myself at least .

The castle 2028 is your best bet, if you can afford the mount and the motor, other options are leopard 5892, doesn't handle high amp pull though,I have had reasonable success with the 5892 1/5 scale turnigy motor from HK but it has not been in stock for while, Top Power from here":http://fightercatracing.com/index.php is going to be my next motor, just going to swap out the bearings for ceramic bearings.

That Hobbyking motor seems tuff to pass up on. Hell, you could run dual motors and esc's and still come out cheaper than the castle system.

Not real interested in the 2028 motor. Seems like it will twist the drive shafts off. I had the CC1717 in my converted losi xxl and frankly it was way too much power. Broke diffs left and right. The CC1717 in the redcat is a good match power wise. I get 60 mph out of it. I may get a 5v computer fan and mount it on the motor to keep it cool until I get the hobby wing T5692 motor.

Land missile, what gearing are you running? And what wheels? I'm thinking of getting a 1717 and gear it for 50mph, which may not have the temp issue you had.

If you get the black traxxas 1717 out of the xo-1 and gear it no higher than 10/48, it will be reasonable, but it will still get hot, just not as much, running the xl2 esc and castle fan on the motor will help, make sure you carry out the motor kv test once you hook up the esc it will bring you motor alive and you can adjust the torque setting so it runs a bit cooler, keep the timming low, there is some good info on 1717 differences over on RC monster.

Good luck. ;)

Thanks! Is that 10/48 on Baja or standard tyres?
