Upgrading Transmitter

Does anyone have any suggestions on a decent transmitter for Rampage MT Pro?

Also would like some guidance in an upgraded battery for the receiver.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

So I’m not quite sure how switching transmitters works, are you able to simply purchase whatever transmitter you’d like and bind it with your stock receiver?

Most transmitters comes with a receivier or you can bind it with your stock one but you won't have enough channels to run your kill switch.
 
As Phil stated, anything Futaba is good.

I've been a Spektrum guy since I got into the hobby and hasn't failed me yet. So I'd add anything Spektrum is good as well.

Started with DX3S. Currently on DX6R.
 
Ok, so what was already said sounds pretty solid to me, and I have used futaba equipment in the past with other rc trucks, where it performed perfectly thru the life of the vehicle. This time however, when I purchased my Rampage MT, I went with the Flysky FS-GT3C, with a Flysky reciever FS-GR3E, for several reasons. First the transmitter is 3 channel, allowing for a "killer bee" kill switch to be installed, (absolutely a must). Also the transmitter can be paired with 10 different recievers, allowing for 1 transmitter for all of your rc vehicles.. just purchase the receivers for about 6 bucks each.. (I used ebay). The transmitter operates on a Lithium-ion polymer battery pack that is rechargeable, keeps it lightweight, and lasts plenty long for even a race day. Unit is fully programmable, has a LCD screen, and programming is easy enough with some help from youtube.. whole unit was under 50 bucks. (Also ebay).
 
I tend to stick with what I know so haven't tried Flysky.
I do prefer a transmitter that uses AAs though as I can just carry some spares with me and don't have to worry about charging

I think I’d tend to agree with the AA batteries for the simple fact that if mine die I can stop at any gas station and they’ll have them
 
Ok guys if you must have your double A batteries, the flysky model GT3B is your answer, fully customizable, can be paired with 10 remote vehicles, 2.4 Ghz, digital dual rate, LCD display, good range, and Double A's! Both are inexpensive, and easy to install. I can endorse both of them as my partner has the B and I have the C, both have over 100 hours of use and no problems. They even use the same recievers. 3 channels on both so you can install the kill switch.. By the way I'm not knocking the Futaba controllers in any way, they have been THE controller for many years and have been tried and true, thru every application and variation. I have even owned several of them in the past, this time around I tried a new product and have been happy with its performance.
 
With the flysky can I, say, pair it with my TRX4 with a winch and control the Winch through the transmitter?
 
Futaba 4PLS is what I use. I have five 5th scales hooked up to it and many more can be added. All you have to do is buy a receiver that works with the 4PLS like the 304sb, bind and install in each rig and it's good to go. It is four channel, so I use the third channel for the superbee killswitch and the fourth channel for a LED light bar.
 
Please excuse my ignorance but what is the benefit of going with a different transmitter? I have been using the one that my MT had from factory and it seems to work fine for me.

Mine too but I use it for a nitro and upgraded to a Futaba to accommodate the kill switch on my Redcat.
 
Spektrums new DX5 series work well plus they have the new wireless receiver technology and they're AA battery operated. The DX6R uses a life battery but you can also purchase the AA battery cartridge.

I'm pretty sure Flysky is limited to 3 channel receivers. If you plan to run anything outside of a kill switch, then Flysky isn't the way to go.

Aside from Spektrum & Futaba, Sanwa is really good too, but they're top of the line and pricey.

As if Futaba & Spektrum don't get equally pricey. Just requires a little research.
