i just bought a used 813 just been rebuilt and went to install it and noticed it had a wobbly throttle shaft is there any way to fix that. does it just take a new throttle shaft or do they wear into the carb housing thanks in advance

I'm sorry I didn't even give it a second thought when I was selling it becuase the 813s are famous for that throttle wobble. They all get it and they get it much worst then what you are seeing on that carb. Actaully the wobble on the one I sold you was pretty minimul compared to the one I have on the 5b now. It's still running good. I think the main concern I read about was getting stuff into the shaft when running itn the sand. I read a few thread a while back at HBF about some mods to keep it clean. I will see if I can find them again. The shafts are only a couple of bucks. I have not had any problems running an 813 with the wobble (knock on wood) but then again there isn't any desert sand up here either. I wasn't trying stick you with a bad carb. I have no problem refunding you your money if your not happy with it at all. Just ship it back up and I will paypal you if you want.

That was too easy. I thought I would be looking for days weeding through the thousands of threads over there. Here is one about sealing the shaft up. There are others out there about this also.

Again if your not happy just let me know. Even if your thinking about shipping it back go ahead and put it on and check it out vs the stock carb. I didn't run the stock carbs long enought to know what performance gain the 813 would give other then no need to choke it.

i wasnt saying it in any bad way. i didnt know if it would hinder performance at all or if there was a easy fix i seen the new arms for 4 buck at ddm and didnt know if that would solve my problem. the carb ran great for the first 5 - 10 minutes then started to die off at full rpm like it was getting flooded and i couldnt adjust it to make it run better and didnt know if the shaft could have been causing that

Hard to say if the body is worn usually you can just change the shaft ten dollar Carb kit keep it running good.

Ya pretty much any semi-used 813 is going to have a sloppy shaft. Mine has been like that for over a year now and it hasn't effected performance. The one big problem I have with my 813 is the pump seems bad where I have to pump that sucker 20+ times to get it started. I seriously doubt it had anything to do with the shaft because it's been wobbly a loooong time before the pump went kaput.

Yeah it seems like they wobble for a long long time before they actually start leaking. I had wobble in one for a year before it started leaking. I took me a long time to find the leak because I considered the wobble normal and forgot all about it :) .

If you get tons of use out of it you wont mind getting a new carb by the time it actually wears out. They go on daily special @ DDM sometimes.

i am just noticing with it when i hit my breaks it pushes the shaft back and the when i give gas it pulls it back the other way i have messed with the linkage going to the throttle arm and gave it as much room for when i break but it still does it a little. and when it pushes back the other way it messes with the idle and sometimes stalls it but not always but not to big of a deal just something i have to remember. and all it takes is a new throttle shaft to fix it right that is 4 dollars all the time at ddm right thanks again
