Well, I turned the charging amps down to 1.0 and tried to charge it but still got a low voltage message.

Between this charger and my truck throttle servo not wanting to zero out, I'm at a loss, I still haven't finished breaking the truck in yet! I was really hoping to do that this weekend. :(

Is it possible its below 3.0v per cell? Most lipo chargers wont charge a pack thats below 3.0v per cell.

You can get them back up to 3.0v per cell starting w/a nimh charge BUT you need to do it in a fireproof envrinment and stop it when it gets just above 3.0v per cell. Then you can balance charge it as a lipo.

Im still going to tinker w/mine later to see if I can get the same message as you.

You've got me there HH! I really don't have a clue on voltages and want not.

Electronics was always something I've been interested in just haven't pursued it yet. :)

I did try to discharge the battery, every attempt at fast or slow charging, discharging ended in a low voltage message.

I wonder how customer service is with Venom? I was thinking of calling them and letting them know what my charger is doing.

Thats not the same Lipo that shorted is it Grizz?
No, that LIPO was mine. The ones I am trying to charge now are Cindy's.

Wait a minute!! I charged my LIPO with this charger! :o I'm going to hook it back up and see what it does!

ok, I have the Venom charger issue solved!

The charger has a "AUTO" select feature that I didn't realize (knuckle-head)

after selecting AUTO it started charging Cindy's LIPO's!

Problem solved, case closed! YAYYY!!!! :D :D :D :p

yep you have to watch what you set or it can stump the hell out of you...

one wrong setting within the chargers program and your messed up till you learn why and what the setting(s) are for...

all lipos have a cut off voltage (3.6-3.7) as so does that charger and can be changed in your case for the worst....

I think it's best you just learn that charger

as for auto on the lipos ,it's best to use that for now till you learn that charger

AUTO Setting is to resolve the cell settings 1S 2S and so on..

setting ,manually a 3S to 2S or 4S lipo will show an error or low voltage issue...

and when you do ,you will solve the issue like you had with that lipo because some users don't know all the cells need a cut off voltage so that lipo lasts...

otherwise you can be slowly shorting out the life of the cells..

I run lipos almost everyday on a slash among other rc's and know it's Vidal to manually kick the battery in the but with manual settings...

peace

Thank you for all the info! You got quite a bit of knowledge on lipo's, that's pretty cool!

not a problem...just here to help

and keep them battery's up to par..

anything else just post

oh and i have been through this many of times...

thank god i never over did it...lol

Any time you have an accident with your battery, if the battery swells “balloons” or if the battery

exceeds temperature guidelines, follow these safety steps:

a. Immediately remove the battery pack from your model or charger.

b. Place the battery in a non-fl ammable, well ventilated area.

c. Observe the battery for 30 minutes from a safe distance.

d. After 30 minutes, if the pack appears stable, is not swollen and does not show

any signs of damage, return the battery pack to normal use with caution

so it was a 3s lipo?

I never use auto charge settings... a fully charged 2s will look like a discharged 3s to some chargers... I believe in always setting the chargers up manually so you won't have an accident or fire.

most chargers like what i run, a rc10 and a imax b6

use the store settings to make things easy :)

so just plug in and load your setting and run...
