Is it true that you need to install a vent line on the gas tank on a race runner?

I read that somewhere and was wondering if its true. The problem I am having with mine is when I run it hard sometimes out of the blue it bogs for no reason. I just let it idle for a second and then its fine again. could this have something to do with not having a vent?

Thats a verry simple but verry good idea. As for heat, Its my hpi baja motor and the needles are set perfect and it seems to happen with or without a body.

Next time I run I will wait for it to happen and then try and open the cap and see if it makes the sound. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Malta RC,

Just drill a 1mm or 1.5mm hole in the centre of the fuel cap, this will sort the problem.

If you are worried about the fuel coming out the hole, screw a pressure nipple in the hole from a nitro pipe and then run a pipe from it to the top of the roll cage and back down again.

If you need pictures let me know and I will take some.

I hope this helps.

Turns out that the fuel pick up line inside the tank was not long enough. I notice while runing today that it only happened when the tank was almost empty.

I made the line longer and the problem was solved.:2guns:

If you are thinking about a 29, go with the CY GP290. It's a good motor with a fair amount of torque. The regular CY 29 is a stroker and the GP 290 has a bigger bore with a stuffed standard crank.
