I'm new to the Redcat game as some of you know. My son is not ready for a gas or nitro. I like to do a ton of homework before making a decision. With my Rampage XT, is was no contest. That being said, it's time for me to get my son a real hobby grade RC truck. He's picky for just 6 years old. I talked him out of a buggy because he like to drive in the grass, and other off road places around where we live. I'd like for him to have some more ground clearance. So, I showed him a few videos, and he liked the Volcano EXP PRO and the Caldera 10E. We found out that the Volcano EXP PRO is LiPo ready. We watched the videos comparing that truck on the stock battery, and then one on the 5000mah LiPo, and wow, what a difference. I found some aluminum hop ups for the Volcano series, and I'm sure the Caldera 10E has them too. I'm turning to you guys here at the forums. The Caldera 10E seems like a very comparable truck. What are the PRO's and Con's here to both? He likes the Volcano slightly more, but I like the Caldera, so I'm trying to see who here owns which. If I can swing it by next Christmas, I'll buy both, although if I'm getting one for myself, I'd like the Earthquake 8E.

I don't know about the Caldera but I own the volcano and if your willing to get a lipo battery it's definitely worth it. I can't tell you much about it either but its been durable and runs good.

Im trying the less expensive route with him first. The Terremoto is a cool truck. I have no problem investing a lot in something for him, but when he is ready to handle it.
